    摘要: A fuse pin valve includes a housing, a piston, and a mechanical fuse, such as a fuse pin. As assembled, the piston is movably disposed in the housing and is retained in a static position by the fuse pin. Upon a certain pressure (e.g., an abnormal pressure) acting on the piston, the fuse pin fails, thereby releasing the piston to move from a first or start position to second or end position. In the start position of the piston, the valve is in a first operational state (e.g., a closed state). In the end position of the piston, the valve is in a second operational state (e.g., an open state, fully open states, etc.). In other embodiments, in the start position of the piston the valve is in an open state, and in the end position of the piston the valve is in a closed state.

    摘要: A fluid check valve incorporating a temporary elastomeric functional barrier membrane, the check valve having a sealing member comprising a first elastomer and a barrier membrane comprising a second elastomer, different from the first elastomer, disposed directly upon the surface of the sealing member so as to form a continuous layer over at least a seal opening of the sealing member. The barrier membrane may include a photoinitiator and coagent which aids in the ultraviolet (UV) curing of the second elastomer after application upon the first. The barrier membrane may applied as a solution of monomers, photoinitiator, and optional coagent, the solvent evaporated, and the deposited solutes exposed to ultraviolet so as to form the barrier membrane material.

    摘要: In an embodiment, there is disclosed a flexible fluid conduit having a breakaway coupling at one or both ends and a safety system that includes a spring in compression which applies thrust (a pull) to flapper valves at both ends of the flexible fluid conduit through relatively stiff bendable spring rods which push the valves open as long as the flexible hose is intact. Upon a hose failure such as a drive away, a coupling separation, a hose separation, or a longitudinal tear, the spring looses its compression and the pull applied to the valves by the spring in compression changes to a pull which immediately pulls the valves to close.

    摘要: A valve and method of operation for controlling the flow of fluid from a pressurized fluid source while maintaining a secure seal against fluid leakage over long periods of time. The valve includes a valve body formed with an inlet channel which extends through a strain concentrating portion. The strain concentrating portion has an ultimate strength less than that of support portions of the body. An actuator applies a load to the valve body sufficient to create a stress which exceeds the ultimate strength of the strain concentrating portion. The strain concentrating portion then fractures into parts separated by a gap. The fracture forms openings from the inlet channel into the gap to create a flow path from the fluid source into an outlet channel.

    摘要: An axially bored valve body having inlet and exhaust ports is provided with a valve movable toward and away from a sealed position in the inlet port at its pressure connected end. A cap closes the end of the body opposite its inlet port. An axially collapsible member is axially interposed between the downstream end of the valve stem and the cap to normally maintain the fluid passageway between the ports closed. Excessive fluid pressure against the valve at the inlet port collapses the collapsible member and unseats the valve to open the fluid passageway.

    摘要: A pressure release arrangement for a pressure container such as a safety containment of a nuclear reactor, wherein a pressure release pipe extends through the containment walls and is closed at its inner end and connected to a drawbar mounted with its other end to a distant point of the container wall. The release pipe has within the containment an area of reduced thickness providing for a design breaking point at which the pipe is caused to rupture when the container is stretched by overpressurization beyond a predetermined point thereby relieving the pressure.With this arrangement, pressure is safely relieved before uncontrolled explosion of the containment but only when absolutely necessary.
