A device and method are provided for leveling and supporting a slab foundation on a column of piling sections. A vertical hole is bored through the slab foundation and an anchoring cylinder is inserted in the hole. An adhesive is used to adhere the outer surface of the anchoring cylinder to a portion of the foundation. The cylinder has a plurality of downward-facing load shoulders which are engaged by upward-facing shoulders of a reacting member positioned across and above the hole. Piling sections are inserted into the anchoring cylinder and forced into the earth with a driving device that reacts against the reacting member. The anchoring cylinder is then supported on the piling sections to maintain the desired level of the foundation.

An apparatus for lifting and supporting a foundation of a structure under tension and compression relative to a pier anchored into the ground. The apparatus comprises a support member connected to the foundation by a plate and a V-shaped brace. A rod passes through the support member and is connected to the pier. Two fasteners threadably engage the rod above and below the support member, respectively, so that the central support member remains slidable along the rod between the first and second fasteners. A lift bracket is removably connected to the support member and a jack is inserted between the rod and the lift bracket. The jack is operated to exert a force between the rod and the lift bracket so that the support member slides along the rod between the first and second anchors as the foundation is lifted. The first and second anchors are then tightened against the support member so that it is held firmly in place relative to the rod to support the foundation under tension and compression. The lift bracket and jack can then be removed.

The present invention provides a plurality of block-like building elements which may be bolted to each other to form a variety of support structures without the use of heavy hoisting equipment. Some of the building elements have a generally U-shaped appearance when viewed in plan, i.e., the building elements are open or slotted on one side so that a hydraulic cylinder or other lifting device may be inserted into the interior of the building element, or into a post formed from a stack of connected building elements. The lifting device may be used to preload the support structure. Advantageously, the lifting device may be used to progressively lift a load to a higher elevation by elevating the load a sufficient distance to enable the addition of an additional building element. The lifting device may then be repositioned within the structure for further elevating the load.

A system for raising and supporting the foundation or slab of a building, in which a mounting assembly is bolted to the foundation or slab and includes a pair of support sleeves which receive a piling and which are connected to the foundation or slab. A clamping assembly engages the piling, and a hydraulic ram is connected between the clamping assembly and the mounting assembly in the expanded position of the ram so that when the ram is retracted, the piling means is driven into the ground until it encounters a predetermined resistance. The ram is further actuated after the predetermined resistance is encountered to raise the mounting assembly and the foundation or slab a predetermined distance after which the mounting assembly and the foundation or slab are secured to the piling.

A pier driving assembly is disclosed which supports the foundation under compression forces. The pier driving assembly includes a pier driving bracket which drives the pier pipes into the ground, a pier head which is placed on the pier pipe after the pipe has been driven to bedrock and the pier driving bracket assembly has been removed, and a loading bracket which gives the final lift to the foundation to make it level. When complete, all that is left in the ground is the pier and the pier head. The pier driving bracket and loading bracket are removed when their use is completed. This assembly allows for easy access to the pier should the building settle again. A modified pier driving assembly includes a pier driving unit, incorporating a pair of hydraulic jacking cylinders, for stabilization of the unit into position when located within the foundation excavation, the unit having a pair of hydraulic driving cylinders, cooperating with a guide block, for driving pier pipe segments into the ground; the unit being removed, and replaced by a pier head, incorporating a pair of lateral brackets, for supporting a pair of hydraulic jacking cylinders, for stabilizing or raising of the foundatin wall and footing, when energized, and providing for the locating of a bolt means therein, which when tightened against a bearing plate arranged at the underside of the footing, supports the building foundation and footing thereon, allowing for the removal of the temporarily emplaced hydraulic jacking cylinders. When accomplished, the excavation can be refilled, concealing the supporting bolt means, pipe segments, bearing plate, all underground, and stabilizing the building wall and integral footing.

A means of leveling and repairing an existing concrete foundation that has failed due to differential settlement, subsidence, soil shifting, surface faults or trees. A series of cylindrical pile segments are jacked into the soil while water jetting to a predetermined depth wherein sufficient skin friction is attained. Reinforcing steel is inserted into the stacked column of cylindrical pile segments and grout is further pumped into the cylindrical pile segments to suitably fix the reinforcing steel to the inside of the cylindrical pile segments, forming a single shaft pile further eliminating or reducing pile deflection and shear.
