    摘要: A magneto-optical disc includes a disc-shaped transparent substrate, a recording layer formed on the substrate for extending from an inner diameter to nearly an outer most diameter, and an outer peripheral portion of the recording layer having a thickness thinner than a thickness of an inner portion of the recording layer. The inner portion has a reflectance value to a recording and playback light beam having a wavelength .lambda.. The portion having such reflectance value is extended to the peripheral portion so that a recording layer is extended to the peripheral portion.

    摘要: An optical information recording method of recording information three-dimensionally by irradiating a laser light beam onto a medium having a servo information plane on which address information and/or servo information is recorded, is disclosed. The method includes the steps of: dividing a laser light beam from one laser light source into laser light beams, the beam including a first light beam for reading the information, and a second light beam for recording information onto the recording medium; irradiating the first light beam onto the servo information plane to read the information from reflected light of the first light beam to read the information in which optical axes of the first light beam and second light beam are arranged coaxially; and irradiating the second light beam based on the read information to be focused onto a position in a depth direction perpendicular to a horizontal direction of the recording medium.

    摘要: An optical recording and reproducing method is able to record and reproduce information by using an optical system using recording and reproducing light with a wavelength selected in a range of from 780 nm±10 nm and an objective lens with a numerical aperture NA selected in a range of from 0.45±0.01 and records and reproduces first and second optical recording mediums having different recording capacities. The first optical recording medium is constructed by using a substrate with a track pitch Tp1 being selected in a range of from 1.5 μm to 1.7 μm and a groove depth d1 being selected in a range of from 70 nm to 90 nm, and the second optical recording medium is constructed by using a substrate 11 with a track pitch Tp2 being selected in a range of from 1.2 μm to 1.3 μm and a groove depth d2 of the groove 12 being selected in a range of from 150 nm to 180 nm. This, the optical recording medium has compatibility with existing optical discs and has a recording density high enough to record a moving picture.
