Abstract:
A therapeutic or prophylactic treatment method of ischemia, such as due to myocardial infarction, by administering thrombopoietin, alone or in combination with other drugs, to a patient suffering from or at risk of cardiac injury, such as myocardial ischemia. The thrombopoietin is administered in a concentration such that the subject's platelet count or production of platelets is not significantly affected.
Abstract:
A method for identifying a type of recording medium using a time-varying output signal from a photosensor includes amplifying the time-varying output signal of the photosensor; converting the amplified time-varying output signal of the photosensor to digitized data points using an analog to digital converter thereby creating a first set of digitized data; filtering the first set of digitized data to provide a low pass data set; filtering the first set of digitized data to provide a high pass data set; computing the standard deviation of the low pass data set; computing the standard deviation of the high pass data set; and identifying the recording medium type using values from both the standard deviation of the low pass data set and the standard deviation of the high pass data set.
Abstract:
Switching mode power supplies (SMPS) that can operate in a control mode for a normal load condition and operate with a burst-mode controller for a light load condition are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method for controlling the switching mode power supply includes when the load is in a light load condition, the switching mode power supply is controlled by a burst-mode controller.
Abstract:
A frequency limitation method used in quasi-resonant control of a switching regulator is disclosed. The switching frequency is limited through setting a minimum time limit, such as a minimum switching period or a minimum OFF time. The minimum time limit may be a first time limit or a second time limit. The minimum time limit is changed into another value if the minimum voltage point approaches the minimum time limit point, so as to eliminate the audible noise.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an off time control method and switching regulator using it. The current flowing through a switch is compared with a current threshold, and the switch is turned off if the current flowing through the switch is larger than the current threshold. The off time of the switch is determined by the load. The current threshold is variable at light load to prevent generating the audible noise and improve the whole efficiency.
Abstract:
A method of processing a time-varying output signal from a photosensor is provided. The time-varying output signal corresponds to a plurality of marks or indicia on a recording medium moving into and out of a field of view of the photosensor with the marks having been printed on the recording medium by a printing system. The method includes amplifying the time-varying output signal from the photosensor; converting the amplified time-varying output signal from the photosensor to digitized data points using an analog to digital converter; and averaging a plurality of the digitized data points.
Abstract:
A system and a method for improving the quality of prints using a print mask for a printer having at least one printhead with a plurality of dot forming elements arranged in complementary dot forming element groups by section to prevent artifacts by compensating for bad dot forming elements on a print head. The method including the steps of identifying each bad dot forming element, identifying and setting up a threshold for each complementary dot forming element group corresponding to one or more bad dot forming elements, and creating a compensation print mask having one or more intermediate print sections by reassigning printing duty cycle from the bad dot forming elements to their respective complementary dot forming elements before printing using the compensation print mask.
Abstract:
The present invention provides peptide-based peroxidase inhibitors having the formula AA1-AA2-AA3, wherein AA1 is a positively charged, negatively charged or neutral amino acid, AA2 is a redox active amino acid, and AA3 is an amino acid possessing a reducing potential such that AA3 is capable of undergoing a redox reaction with a radical of amino acid AA2 or a retro or retro-inverso analog thereof. The result of such a combination is a highly effective inhibitor of peroxidase activity that has potent anti-inflammatory properties in widely diverse models of vascular disease and injury. Exemplary tripeptides effectively inhibit peroxidase mediated LDL oxidation, increase vasodilation in SCD mice, inhibit eosinophil infiltration and collagen deposition in asthma mice, inhibit acute lung injury, and decrease ischemic injury of the heart.
Abstract:
A printing method includes applying at least one of a plurality of pigmented colored inks to a receiving surface. A colorless ink is applied to the receiving surface. A majority of the colorless ink is ejected from of first nozzles on a printhead used for ejecting the colorless ink. At least 30% of an area on the receiving surface, which is passed over by the first nozzles, is covered with the colorless ink during a single pass of the printhead over the area.
