    Abstract: This invention relates to optical sighting apparatus systems, and to methods for visualization and for identifying remote target surface areas without physical contact for the purpose of measurement and/or of treatment of the remote surface. An arrangement of projected light beams indicates the position and size of the target surface in relation to a measurement detector or treatment device, so that the device is accurately directed to the target. In a preferred arrangement separate laser beams form a light distribution indication or brightness pattern at the target and the device is sighted toward the pattern on the target surface area.

    Abstract: An infra-red measurement device is disclosed having at least two laser emitters (2) which between them define a sighting area (7,7′,7″). In one embodiment of the invention, two lasers are provided and these are each preferably split into a number of beams by means of, for example, a diffraction grating lens (4). The fact that there are two laser emitting devices, means that effectively twice the power can be utilised since the limit is per laser emitting device, and thus twice the brightness of a conventional device attained. In another embodiment of the invention, four laser emitters (2) are employed and the beams (6) can be split by a diffraction grating as before. The laser emitters in the device can be operated simultaneously, sequentially, or can be pulsed. Having greater brightness than conventional devices, the detectors of the invention are excellent for use in dark or smoky conditions, for example for obtaining the temperatures of car engines, furnaces and the like.

    Abstract: A thermoelectric connector module (C) is disclosed which comprises input (2) and output (1E) connectors and contains signal conditioning circuitry (1C). The input connectors (2) are interfaced with a hand-held detector (7), and the output connectors (1E) are connected to signal-utilising apparatus (11). The module does not contain a battery but receives its power supply for the conditioning circuitry from the signal-utilising apparatus supplied via the output connectors (1E). In this way, the module may be miniaturised, making it particularly suitable for mounting directly on a hand-held temperature detector or probe. Since the connector does not have to be opened for a battery replacement, it can be permanently hermetically sealed, providing resistance to dirt, dust, moisture, water and the like.
