The top end of the water heater device is closed by a cap, and the bottom end of the water heater construction is closed by a floor connected to the outer shell. The inner tank has a concave bottom wall. An enclosed, flexible collar filled thermal insulation material, such as fiberglass, is arranged into two pouches wherein the outer pouch is located in the annular space between the inner tank and outer shell proximate the bottom end of the water heater device concentric with the annular space such that the collar is in contact with the interior wall surface of the outer shell and in contact with the exterior wall surface of the inner tank. The inner pouch which is disc-shaped is disposed beneath the tank.

    摘要: A dishwashing apparatus having a dispenser operable at a preselected time in the dishwashing cycle for dispensing a treating liquid such as a rinse additive. The dispenser is arranged so as to measure in a measuring cup a preselected quantity of additives as an incident of moving the dishwasher door between opened and closed positions and to dispense the preselected quantity at the proper time in the wash cycle. The measuring cup for the additive is pivotally mounted within the dispenser and is pivoted from a position submerged in the liquid additive when the dishwasher door is opened in the horizontal plane, and above the liquid additive level when the dishwasher door is closed in the vertical plane, to a position so as to discharge the liquid by gravity into a discharge conduit. The discharge conduit additive receiving opening is located above the level of the liquid additive at all door positions and conveys the liquid additive by gravity into the washing chamber. The pivoting of the measuring cup is effected at the desired preselected time in the dishwashing cycle.

    摘要: A vehicle-mounted antenna simultaneously coupled via a passive electrical network to a 40-channel Citizens band transceiver and to an AM-FM receiver is disclosed. A non-loaded whip antenna, sized to be electrically short at Citizens band frequencies, is cowl-mounted in a conventional manner to present the dimensions and generaly appearance of a standard broadcast band car radio antenna. The passive electrical coupling network includes a broadband compensated, quarter-wave transmission line transformer for impedance matching the electrically short antenna to the Citizens band transceiver, and associated L-C circuits for selectively blocking, bypassing and separating AM and FM band signals relative to each other and to Citizens band signals. The disclosed antenna with its associated network provides excellent AM-FM radio receiver reception while presenting to the Citizens band transceiver a voltage standing wave ratio of 1.5:1 or better.

    摘要: Contact and intra-ocular lenses are manufactured by forming reference surfaces in a lens blank along with the inner base surface for the lens. The partially formed lens blank is then mounted to a blocking member which has complementary surfaces that mate with the reference surface and automatically align the lens blank. The blocking member has a flange that abuts against a spindle in which the member is held during formation of the outer lens surface. The known distance between the abutting surface of this flange and the reference surface on the lens blank allows the outer lens surface to be formed without having to separately measure the thickness of the lens blank, or enter dimensional information into the computer which controls the operation. A recessed collet within the spindle enables the blocking member flange to directly abut the end of the spindle.

    摘要: An appliance, such as a refrigerator or water heater construction, typically includes a first wall in surrounding spaced apart relationship to a second wall. An insulating and sealing device of insulation material, such as fiberglass or foamed material partially enclosed in an open-topped envelope of plastic or foil material is circumferentially located in the space between the first wall and outer wall at a preselected location within the space. The insulating and sealing device which is of a radial thickness greater than the radial width of the space is radially compressed between the first wall surface and second wall surface. An expanded foam thermal insulation material fills the space to one side of the insulating and sealing device. A method of making the appliance having two spaced apart walls includes the steps of positioning an insulating and sealing device of resilient, flexible insulation material on and in contact with one of the walls, the insulating and sealing device having a radial thickness greater than the radial width of the space, and positioning the two walls into transverse spaced apart relationship radially compressing the collar between the two walls. In another embodiment, the method of making the appliance includes the steps of positioning the two walls in transverse spaced apart relationship, and positioning an insulating and sealing device of resilient, flexible insulation material within the space in contact with the facing surfaces of the two walls, the insulating and sealing device having a radial thickness greater than the width of the space.

An uncured binder is homogeneously dispersed through the insulation filling material prior to installing the insulation material in the enclosure. The insulation device can be made by forming an opening into the cavity of the enclosure, injecting binderless, loose, discrete, divided insulation material into the enclosure cavity and concurrently applying an uncured binder on the insulation material as it is being injected into the enclosure cavity to homogeneously distribute the uncured binder throughout the insulation material being injected into the enclosure cavity, and closing the opening of the enclosure. The top edge of the insulation sleeve includes an annular cuff which is of a radial thickness greater than the radial thickness of the rest of the insulation sleeve such that the cuff is compressed between the interior wall surface of the outer shell and exterior wall surface of the inner tank. An expanded foam thermal insulation material fills the annular space above the cuff of the insulation mat. A method of making the water heater construction includes the steps of locating a sleeve of insulation material around the exterior wall surface of the inner tank extending from proximate the bottom end of the inner tank and extending upwardly longitudinally thereof a predetermined distance less than the full length of the inner tank, folding the top end of the insulation sleeve back over itself to form an annular cuff at the top end of the sleeve, and positioning the outer shell concentrically over the inner tank whereupon the annular cuff is compressed between the interior wall surface of the outer shell and exterior wall surface of the inner tank. The annular space above the annular cuff of the sleeve is then filled with an expandable foam insulation material which is allowed to foam in situ.
