Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are provided that facilitate providing access point measurements to restricted access points. Restricted access points can lessen restrictions to allow devices to register with the restricted access point for providing measurements thereto. Additionally or alternatively, access point measurements can be provided to a minimization of drive tests (MDT) server for providing to the restricted access points. Thus, restricted access points can obtain the access point measurements for performing enhanced interference management or other functionality based at least in part on the measurements.
Abstract:
According to some wireless network standards the size of a neighbor cell list is restricted to a maximum size. The limited size of a neighbor cell list may not reflect the realities of a wireless network deployment, especially for deployments including numerous femto cells clustered in close proximity. Accordingly, as the concentration of macro cells and/or femto cells in an area increases, there lies a challenge to identify and communicate neighbor lists to user devices that reflect the arrangement of a particular portion of the deployment and the needs of the user devices. Various systems, methods and apparatus described herein are configured to provide a user device or a group of user devices a neighbor cell list that includes neighbor cell identifiers chosen from a candidate list.
Abstract:
A method for enhancing assignment of mobility classifications to mobile devices is described. A plurality of mobility classifications are stored in association with a plurality of mobile devices to indicate, for each mobile device, one or more handover parameters used by the mobile device. One or more handover parameters associated with the plurality of mobility classifications are updated based on mobility events. An error determination is made that one or more of the one or more mobile devices are incorrectly associated with the mobility classifications based on the one or more updated handover parameters for the plurality of mobility classifications. In response to the error determination, one or more new criteria are established that adjust how the mobility classifications are assigned.
Abstract:
Disclosed are systems and methods for dynamic power regulation in small cells. In one aspect, a system is configured to determining at least one mobility metric indicative of at least one access terminal mobility at the cell. The system then configured to determine whether the value of mobility metric is acceptable. When the value of mobility metric is unacceptable, the system is configured to increase the transmit power of the cell until the value of mobility metric becomes acceptable. If the value of mobility metric does not become acceptable after increasing the transmit power of the cell above a threshold, the system is configured to decrease the transmit power of the cell.
Abstract:
Techniques for supporting location services for a home Node B (HNB) and its user equipments (UEs) are disclosed. In an aspect, location services may be supported for a UE by having an HNB inter-work between user plane and control plane location solutions. In one design, the HNB receives a request for a location service for the UE and communicates (i) with a location server via the user plane location solution and (ii) with the UE via the control plane location solution to support the location service for the UE. The HNB inter-works between the user plane and control plane location solutions. In another aspect, a location server may be used to support assisted GNSS (A-GNSS) for HNBs and UEs. In one design, an HNB exchanges PCAP messages with the location server via an HNB GW and exchanges RRC messages with a UE to support a location service for the UE.
Abstract:
Information is communicated between access points to cause a recipient access point to invoke an action. In some aspects, a mapping is defined between: 1) sets of physical layer identifiers and/or associated time offsets; and 2) different types of information. The mapping information is provided to access points in a wireless communication system such that an access point can use this scheme to communicate specified types of information to another access point. Based on the mapping, an access point that receives a set of physical layer identifiers from another access point is able to determine the type of information being communicated. The recipient access point may then invoke a specific action based on the type of information that was communicated.
Abstract:
Techniques are described for handover decisions based on an absolute channel quality of a serving cell. For example, there is provided a method that involves generating a set of handover parameters based on a report of serving cell signal quality to avoid ping-ponging effects of an access terminal between a serving cell and another cell. A network entity receives a report regarding a serving cell signal quality from a reporting entity. A set of parameters is defined for a network event and sent to an access terminal, where the set of parameters is based at least in part on the received report. The set of parameters for the network event is sent to the access terminal.
Abstract:
Techniques are provided for femtocell search using blind and traffic demand-based configurations for compressed mode. For example, a method includes configuring a type-1 cluster of transmission gaps for a mobile entity. The method may include receiving, during one transmission gap of the type-1 cluster of transmission gaps, signal measurements of the second network node from the mobile entity. The method may include configuring a type-2 cluster of transmission gaps for the mobile entity in response to receiving the signal measurements of the second network node.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for deploying a femto node with expanded coverage. This may be achieved, for example, by operating a femto node in an open or hybrid access mode to allow registration from both member and non-member devices, monitoring conditions on a backhaul link maintained with a wireless network over a broadband connection configured to provide internet access to the devices and to other devices operating independent of the femto node, and managing resources or mobility for each device based on whether the device is a member device or a non-member device and based on the conditions over on the backhaul link.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for enhanced neighbor discovery through enhanced automatic neighbor relations (ANR) and for detecting cell identifier confusion and are described. Neighboring base stations may provide information to one another, including using ANR, that may avoid or help to resolve cell identity confusion. For example, a NHN-ID may be defined to avoid or resolve cell identify confusion. A wireless device, such as a base station or a user equipment (UE), may determine whether neighboring cells are using a common cell identifier and may adjust operations accordingly. For example, a device may detect physical cell identity (PCI) confusion by determining whether two neighboring cells have the same PCI and different Evolved Universal Terrestrial Access Network (E-UTRAN) Cell Global Identifiers (ECGIs) or different Neutral Host Network Identifier (NHN-IDs). A network entity may then inform the neighboring cells having the same PCI of the confusion.
