摘要： An apparatus and method for reduction of a handover interruption time using an estimated handover time negotiation in a broadband wireless communication system are provided. A method for supporting a handover of a mobile station in a serving base station includes receiving a handover pre-notification response message including a residual estimated handover time from a target base station, determining a current residual estimated handover time using the residual estimated handover time, and exchanging the determined residual estimated handover time with the target base station.

摘要： A system is provided for performing location update in a wireless mobile communication system that uses an Internet protocol (IP) address and is classified as at least one paging group. A serving base station (BS) sends a message including an identifier of a paging group where the serving BS is located, determines whether there is a change in IP subnet of a mobile station (MS) upon receipt of a location update request from the MS, and upon recognizing a change in IP subnet of the MS, stores information on a new IP subnet and notifies the change in the IP subnet to the MS. Upon detecting a need for location update, the MS sends a request for location update to a serving BS, and receives a location update success notification and an allocated temporary IP address from the serving BS.

摘要： A method for determining a handoff of a mobile station (MS) in a mobile communication system. In the method, a serving base station (BS) measures a level of a first uplink signal by monitoring an uplink to the MS. The serving BS receives a level of a second uplink signal, measured and reported by at least one neighbor BS. The serving BS determines a handoff for the MS considering the level of the first uplink signal and the level of the second uplink signal.

摘要： A system and method for switching a session of a User Equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system are provided. According to the method, if the UE performs a handover from a macro base station of a macro cell to a femto base station of a femto cell, a femto base station transmits a path switch request message, which includes a serving gateway relocation Information Element (IE), to a Mobility Management Entity (MME) of the macro cell, in order to request a switching from an existing session of the UE to a new session managed by the femto base station. Then, in response to the path switch request message, the MME switches the existing session of the UE to the new session and transmits a path switch approval message to the femto base station. The serving gateway relocation IE includes information requesting relocation of a serving gateway of the UE to a femto serving gateway within the femto cell.
