Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method and an apparatus for determining a transmission resource for initiating a data transmission. The method (100) performed by a terminal device may comprise: acquiring (S102) a time limit for determining whether a configured transmission resource is within the time limit; and initiating (S104), based on the transmission resource being within the time limit and being valid for a data transmission, the data transmission using the transmission resource in an inactive state. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, the time limit is considered for determining the transmission resource, and thus the data transmission can be performed timely.

In this way, the data flushed from the HARQ buffers upon LTM can be immediately retransmitted by the RLC entity without waiting for RLC status report from the network, the interruption of data communication can be reduced, and LTM is optimized.

Through this solution, it is possible to avoid unnecessary interactions between protocol layers as well as avoid false resume of the radio bearer when the SDT procedure cannot be performed.
