Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and computer program for routing messages between terminal devices of a wireless network are provided. A terminal device of the wireless network generates a signaling message to be transmitted as a broadcast or multicast message to at least one other terminal device of the wireless network, causes transmission of the signaling message as a unicast message to the access node and, after transmitting the unicast message to the access node, receives the signaling message from the access node as the broadcast or multicast message. Further explanations: terminal devices (of a WLAN) broadcast or multicast control messages between each other by employing the access node (AP) as a broker for the signaling messages. For instance, channel reservation messages are encapsulated as unicast messages and sent to an AP to broadcast such reservation messages to other terminals competing for the same channel access. Each terminal adapts its channel reservations based on the information broadcasted by the other terminals via the AP. Alternatively, terminal devices may exchange information about the services they support.

According to an aspect, there is provided a method comprising: determining, by an access node of a wireless network, to transmit frames on a frequency channel; determining, by the access node, a first sub-band of the frequency channel for wake-up radio transmissions according to a wake-up radio access technology and a second sub-band of the frequency channel, different from the first sub-band, for main radio transmissions according to another radio access technology; performing, by the access node, an allocation of the first sub-band for the wake-up radio transmissions and a simultaneous allocation of the second sub-band for the main radio transmissions; transmitting, by the access node by using a main radio interface of the access node operating according to said another radio access technology, a frame comprising a header indicating said allocations, and transmitting, by the access node after transmitting the header, a wake-up signal on the first sub-band by using a wake-up radio interface of the access node operating according to the wake-up radio access technology and, simultaneously, transmitting another radio signal on the second sub-band by using the main radio interface of the access node.
Abstract:
A method comprising: identifying characteristic changes in radio environment arising from a person; and using the identified characteristic changes in radio environment arising from a person to predict when a person approaches a display apparatus and to pre-fetch data for the person.

In some example embodiments there is provided a method. The method may include receiving, at a user equipment, a network selection policy, wherein the network selection policy indicates whether the user equipment is allowed to or inhibited from operating in accordance with a local service network; allowing, at the user equipment when the received network selection policy indicates an allowance, transmission via the local service network; and inhibiting, at the user equipment when the received network selection policy indicates an inhibition, transmission via the local service network. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also disclosed.
Abstract:
In some example embodiments there is provided a method. The method may include sending, by a user equipment having a connection to a service at a cloud-based server, a publication message to a local cluster comprising at least one other user equipment and the user equipment, wherein the publication message offers to share, with the at least one other user equipment, the connection; receiving, by the user equipment, a request from the at least one other user equipment to access the connection made available by the user equipment, when the at least one other user equipment lacks connectivity to the service at the cloud-based server; and sending, by the user equipment, a response message indicating to the at least one other user equipment whether the at least one other user equipment is allowed to access the connection made available by the user equipment.
Abstract:

Abstract:
A method to provide interoperable mechanisms for efficient use of frequency bands and channels in Wi-Fi networks, including receiving, by an access point device, a wireless request message from a wireless device, requesting information on candidate wireless networks; determining, by the access point device, whether the wireless device is associated with the access point device; and composing, by the access point device, a forwarding message to be transmitted by the access point device to a server, and including in the forwarding message an indication that the wireless device is associated with the access point device, if the wireless device is associated with the access point device.
Abstract:
Embodiments enable privacy protection for increasing service anonymity. A method comprises receiving a service discovery frame from a wireless device operating synchronously in a neighbor awareness network cluster, including scrambled values associated with service names, each of the scrambled values being a hash of an argument comprising the service name and a component value selected based on a current synchronous time shared with the wireless device. The received scrambled values are compared with scrambled values associated with maintained service names, each being a hash of an argument comprising a valid service name of a known service and a component value selected based on the current synchronous time. If any of the received scrambled values satisfies the comparison with a scrambled value associated with the service name, then the received scrambled value is determined to be associated with the known service.
