Abstract: An electronic system, a method, and a computer program product generate an image stream with spherical background effects for multiple participants presented in a shared virtual venue during a video call. The method includes generating a composite image stream of the first foreground image superimposed at a first assigned location and a second foreground image superimposed at a second assigned location on a spherical background image. The method includes communicating the composite image stream to first and second electronic devices oriented to respective first and second vantage points associated with the first and second assigned locations of a virtual venue presented within the spherical background image. The method includes rotating the spherical background image relative to the first and the second vantage point presented to a respective display device of the first and the second electronic devices in relation to movement of a corresponding first participant and second participant.

Abstract: An apparatus for autonomous form factor control of a foldable mobile device includes a processor that determines a current form factor of the foldable mobile device and senses a forward motion or a backward motion of a subject within a field of view of a camera of the device. In response to forward motion of a user, the processor raises a pointing elevation angle of the camera to maintaining the user within the field of view by autonomously controlling the hinge angle between the first device housing and the second device housing of the foldable mobile device and in response to backward motion the processor lowers the pointing elevation angle by autonomously using shape memory actuators to control the hinge angle in the direction determined based on the form factor.

Abstract: In aspects of recorded content managed for restricted screen recording, a wireless device displays digital image content, and a screen recording session captures the digital image content and audio data. The wireless device implements a content control module that determines a device application restricts the screen recording session from capturing the media content. The content control module can then pause the screen recording session for a time duration that the device application restricts the screen recording session, and then resume the screen recording session after a determination that the screen recording session is no longer being restricted. As an alternative to pausing the screen recording session, the content control module can add a start delimiter to indicate a beginning section of the screen recording session being restricted by the device application, and add an end delimiter to indicate an end section of the screen recording session being restricted.

Abstract: A compute box includes a communication device and one or more processors. The one or more processors, in response to the communication device being electronically in communication with a flexible content presentation companion device, determine a visible area available on the flexible content presentation companion device as a function of its geometric configuration. The one or more processors format content for presentation on the visible area available on the flexible content presentation companion device and cause the communication device to deliver the content to the flexible content presentation companion device. When the geometric configuration changes, the one or more processors can generate a visible display area adjustment animation to smoothly transfer the content to a new visible area.

Abstract: A communication device, method and computer program product provide multiple simultaneous camera previews of different imaging modes of the same image. The communication device includes a communication subsystem that receives a photographic image stream from a second communication device. The communication device includes a display driver that presents content on a display device. A controller of the communication device is communicatively coupled to the display driver. The controller simultaneously presents the more than one camera previews on the display device. The communication device presents a particular imaging mode of the photographic image stream corresponding to the particular camera preview that is user selected. The communication device transmits, via the communication subsystem to the second communication device, a report of a user selection by the at least one user input device, of the particular imaging mode of the photographic visual stream that is being presented on the display device.

Abstract: Techniques for visual feature based video effects are described and are implementable to determine one or more visual features associated with an individual and generate a modified video feed based on the visual features. The described implementations enable automatic focus of a video feed to a particular focal region based on facial features of the individual. For instance, a visual feature such as pupillary distance or pupil size is determined from a video feed. A focal distance is calculated based on the visual feature, e.g., indicating a region that the individual is focused on. A modified video stream is then generated based on the focal distance, for instance to focus the video stream to a specific focal plane.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a memory storing a plurality of fingerprint reference data files. One or more sensors identify whether a mechanical support condition of the electronic device is a hand supported condition or a surface supported condition. A fingerprint sensor receives fingerprint data. One or more processors select a prioritized fingerprint data reference file from the plurality of fingerprint reference data files as a function of the mechanical support condition and authenticate an authorized user of the electronic device by comparing the fingerprint data to the prioritized fingerprint data reference file before comparing the fingerprint data to another fingerprint reference data file of the plurality of fingerprint reference data files. The fingerprint sensor can be situated on a minor surface of the electronic device, on a rear major surface in a central location, on the rear major surface in an edge location, or in other locations.

Abstract: An electronic device, method, and computer program product for managing a content creation application are disclosed. A first device housing is pivotable relative to a second device housing between a closed position and an axially displaced open position. A first display panel and user interface are exposed when the first device housing and the second device housing are in the axially displaced open position. A second display panel is exposed both when the first device housing and the second device housing are in the closed position and when the first device housing and the second device housing are in the axially displaced open position. The first display panel displays a content creation application, which is mirrored onto the second display panel. A portion of the user interface is overlaid onto the content creation application on second display panel and receives user input to manage the content creation application.
