Abstract:
An electrosurgical device comprising: forceps including: (i) a first working arm and (ii) a second working arm; a blade; wherein the electrosurgical device is capable of being switched between: (A) a first mechanical configuration where the first working arm and second working arm are free to move in a direction towards each other to grasp tissue therebetween; (B) a second mechanical configuration where the first working arm and second working arm are secured together by an arm securing mechanism that prevents movement of the first working arm and the second working arm in a direction towards each other; and (C) a third mechanical configuration where the first working arm and second working arm are secured together so that the first working arm and the second working arm are prevented from moving in a direction towards each other, and the blade is substantially flush with or extend beyond a distal end of the first working arm and the second working arm; and wherein the electrosurgical device is configured to: deliver a bipolar current between the first working arm and the second working arm, and to prevent current from flowing from the blade when the electrosurgical device is in the first mechanical configuration and the second mechanical configuration; and deliver current through the blade when the electrosurgical device is in the third mechanical configuration.
Abstract:
A medical device is provided that includes a hand piece, a heating power supply, and a therapy power supply. The hand piece includes a first electrode including a heater. The heating power supply selectively provides heating power to the heater. The therapy power supply selectively provides therapeutic power to the first electrode. The medical device is changeable between operating a first electrosurgical configuration and a second electrosurgical configuration. In the first electrosurgical configuration, the heating power supply provides the heating power to the heater to heat the first electrode and the therapy power supply provides the therapeutic power to the first electrode.
Abstract:
An electrosurgical device comprising: forceps including: (i) a first working arm; (ii) a second working arm; (iii) a blade electrode; wherein the electrosurgical device is capable of being switched between a first electrical configuration so that the electrosurgical device delivers a first therapy current through the first working arm, the second working arm, or both, and a second electrical configuration so that the electrosurgical device delivers a second therapy current through the blade electrode; and wherein the electrosurgical device includes a heat pipe in the first working arm, the second working arm, or both.
Abstract:
An electrosurgical device: forceps having: a first working arm, a second working arm, wherein the electrosurgical device has a first electrosurgical configuration where the first working arm and the second working arm are in an opposed position so that the forceps deliver a first therapy current that flows between the first working arm and the second working arm; and wherein the electrosurgical device has a second electrosurgical configuration when the first working arm, the second working arm, or both are repositionable relative to each other so that the first working arm is extended with respect to the second working arm or vice versa and a second therapy current is delivered from the first working arm to a remote electrode.
Abstract:
An electrosurgical instrument connectivity system providing monopolar and bipolar plugs each having a plurality of conductors which allow for use of combination monopolar/bipolar electrosurgical devices with industry standard electrosurgical generator outlets.
Abstract:
An electrosurgical system comprising: a handpiece including: (a) a first power connector; (b) a second power connector; and (c) one or more moveable members having a first position and a second position; and an activation circuit having a first switch state and a second switch state, wherein the activation circuit in the first switch state does not allow either a first electrosurgical therapy signal or a second electrosurgical therapy signal to exit the handpiece; wherein when the activation circuit is in the second switch state and the one or more moveable members are in the first position the activation circuit allows the first electrosurgical therapy signal to exit the handpiece so that a first therapy current extends between the first power connector and the second power connector, and wherein when the activation circuit is in the second switch state and the one or more moveable members are in the second position the activation circuit allows the second electrosurgical therapy signal to exit the handpiece so that a second therapy current extends between the first power connector and the second power connector.
Abstract:
A medical device that includes an introducer and a sensor. The introducer is configured to be inserted into a body cavity through a constricted channel. The introducer includes a predetermined section. The sensor is configured to generate a signal while the predetermined section of the introducer is located inside of the body cavity.
Abstract:
A jaw assembly that includes a first jaw and a second jaw. The first jaw includes a first outer jaw member having an effecting surface; a first inner jaw member having an effecting surface; and an element connecting the first outer jaw member and the first inner jaw member. The first inner jaw member is moveable relative to the first outer jaw member. The effecting surface of the first outer jaw member is proud of the effecting surface of the first inner jaw member in a direction of the second jaw.
Abstract:
A medical device comprising: (a) an interface including: (i) a first portion including: (1) a body portion connected to N a handle of a scalpel; and (2) a connection adapter; (ii) a second portion; wherein the connection adapter includes an interface portion that is a channel and the second portion includes an interface portion that is a tab that extends into the channel so that the first portion is connected to the second portion or wherein the second portion includes an interface portion that is a channel and the connection adapter includes an interface portion that is a tab that extends into the channel so that the first portion is connected to the second portion.
Abstract:
An electrosurgical device comprising: a) two or more functional states; b) a selector assembly that moves between at least a first position and a second position, the selector assembly including: i) one or more shuttles; ii) one or more buttons; iii) one or more circuit boards with one or more switches; and iv) one or more indicators; wherein the selector assembly in the first position is configured to provide a first one of the two or more functional states, and in the second position is configured to provide a second one of the two or more functional states; and wherein the one or more indicators communicates a first color, corresponding to the first functional state, and communicates a second color corresponding to the second functional state.
