Abstract: Airfoils including a plurality of nozzles and venturi. The airfoils may include a body including an inner wall defining a high pressure fluid chamber, and a plurality of high pressure nozzles extending through the inner wall. Each high pressure nozzle may be in fluid communication with the high pressure fluid chamber. The airfoil body may also include an intermediate wall positioned adjacent to and surrounding the inner wall to define a low pressure fluid chamber formed between the intermediate wall and the inner wall, and a plurality of low pressure venturi extending through the intermediate wall. Each low pressure venturi may be in fluid communication with the low pressure fluid chamber. Additionally, the airfoil body may include an outer wall positioned adjacent to and surrounding the intermediate wall to define a cooling channel formed between the intermediate wall and the outer wall.

Abstract: A passive flow modulation device according to an embodiment includes: a pressure sensitive main valve controlling a flow of a cooling fluid from a first area to a second area through an orifice; and a temperature sensitive pilot valve coupled to the pressure sensitive main valve, the temperature sensitive pilot valve configured to open at a predetermined temperature in the first area, causing a pressurization of the pressure sensitive main valve, wherein the pressurization of the pressure sensitive main valve actuates the pressure sensitive main valve to an open position, allowing the cooling fluid to flow from the first area to the second area through the orifice.

Abstract: A bundled tube fuel nozzle assembly includes a fuel injector and a tube bundle comprising a plurality of tubes that provide for fluid communication through a forward plate, a fuel plenum and an aft plate of the bundled tube fuel nozzle assembly. Each tube includes an inlet defined at an upstream end of the tube and an outlet defined at a downstream end of the tube. The fuel injector is disposed upstream from the inlets of each of the tubes. The upstream end of each tube is noncircular and includes at least one side portion that abuts a complementary upstream end side portion of an immediately adjacent tube of the plurality of tubes. The downstream end of each tube may be circular and is spaced apart from the downstream ends of immediately adjacent tubes of the plurality of tubes.

Abstract: A segmented annular combustion system includes an alternating arrangement of fuel nozzles and integrated combustor nozzles. The fuel nozzles deliver fuel to the primary combustion zones. The integrated combustor nozzles include an inner liner segment, an outer liner segment, and a fuel injection panel extending between the liner segments. The fuel injection panel includes injection outlets on one or both side walls to deliver a combustible mixture to the secondary combustion zones. Each fuel injection panel, which provides a boundary between adjacent primary and secondary combustion zones, includes an aft end that defines a turbine nozzle. The segmented annular combustion system is part of a gas turbine.

Abstract: A segmented annular combustion system includes integrated combustor nozzles, each of which has a fuel injection panel disposed radially between an inner liner segment and an outer liner segment. The fuel injection panel includes an aft end portion, a first side wall, a second side wall, premixing channels defined between the first side wall and the side wall, and injection outlets defined along at least one of the first side wall and the second side wall. The aft end portion defines a turbine nozzle portion. An interior portion between the first side wall and the second side wall includes walls that extend between the first and second side walls, thereby partitioning the interior portion into discrete air cavities. The air cavities and the liner segments may be cooled by impingement inserts or panels.
