Abstract: In some aspects, the disclosure is directed to methods and systems for transmitting packets (including but not limited to MU-MIMO packets). An access point communicating wirelessly with a plurality of devices can determine that a first packet for a first device of the plurality of devices has a first transmission duration. The access point can determine that a second packet for a second device of the plurality of devices has a second transmission duration shorter than the first transmission duration. The access point can adjust, based on the determination, a transmission power or a modulation and coding scheme to transmit the second packet during a third transmission duration. The third transmission duration can be greater than the second transmission duration.

Abstract: A broadband gateway may provide energy management service within a home network. The energy management service may enable reducing and/or enhancing energy consumption within the home network. The energy management service may comprise managing one or more devices in the home network by the broadband gateway. The energy management service may be performed based on energy-related information associated with devices, and the information may be stored by the broadband gateway. At least some of the energy-related information may be acquired from the managed devices. The energy management service may comprise controlling and/or configuring the managed devices, and/or communications between the managed devices within the home network. The broadband gateway may track actual energy usage by the managed devices. Information corresponding to energy-related activities and/or usage may be displayed via a user interface. The information may also be reported to entities external to the home network.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for opportunistic data transfer (ODT) are provided. ODT improves network coverage, reliability and/or efficiency by permitting data transfer consumers and network access providers to take advantage of communication opportunities that may be mutually beneficial. Fixed and mobile, personal or business, wired or wireless devices, may participate as ODT network operators, providers and/or consumers. ODT participants may be motivated to participate, for example, to reduce battery consumption and improve network coverage, reduce network congestion and interference. A phone, for example, may be enabled to send data to an Internet destination by ODT in lieu of a cellular network in particular circumstances, such as cellular network unavailability, with less costly data transfer and/or less battery power consumption. ODTs may be ad hoc or preauthorized and may be tracked, accounted, and compensated for, such as according to ODT service terms selected by each provider.

Abstract: In some aspects, the disclosure is directed to methods and systems for transmitting to static and non-static devices. An access point having a plurality of antennas can send a plurality of sounding frames from the plurality of antennas to a plurality of devices. The access point can identify, based on responses to the plurality of sounding frames, at least one static device from the plurality of devices. The access point can assign, based on the responses to the plurality of sounding frames, to each of the at least one static device, a corresponding one of the plurality of antennas for operation in a directional mode for transmissions to the corresponding static device, and the remaining antennas from the plurality of antennas for operation in an omnidirectional mode.
