Abstract: A voice coil former including a first portion having a planar region and an out-of plane region that extends outside a plane of the planar region, and wherein a length dimension of the first portion is at least two times greater than a width dimension of the first portion. The former further including a second portion extending from the first portion in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the first portion, the second portion being integrally formed with the first portion and dimensioned to support a voice coil thereon.

The micro speaker further including a speaker assembly positioned within the encased space, the speaker assembly having a sound radiating surface facing the metal portion of the enclosure wall, a voice coil extending from the sound radiating surface, a magnet assembly having a magnetic gap aligned with the voice coil, and an acoustic chamber formed, in part, by the metal portion of the enclosure wall and the sound radiating surface.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject technology relate to a shaker module for an electronic device. The shaker module may include a movable component that is resiliently suspended in relation to a voice coil by one or more gap-separated pairs of the flat springs. The flat springs reduce the z-height of the shaker module for implementation in, for example, compact electronic devices. The gap-separated pairs of flat springs facilitate adjustment of the resonance frequency of the shaker module substantially independently of adjustments to drop performance, while providing stability against unwanted rocking motions of the movable component.

Abstract: A loudspeaker having a compressible lead wire is described. The lead wire carries an electrical audio input signal to a voice coil. The electrical audio input signal drives the voice coil to oscillate in an axial direction. The compressible lead wire includes an elastic portion that stretches and compresses in the axial direction to allow the voice coil to oscillate freely. The elastic portion includes several compressible elements that are located within a cavity of the loudspeaker. The compressible elements extend through the cavity in the axial direction. Other aspects are also described and claimed.

Abstract: A planar magnetic driver including a radiating surface having a trace-free central region is described. The driver has a magnet defining an acoustic opening on a central axis. A diaphragm of the planar magnetic driver is held by mounts having a mounting profile around the central axis, and the diaphragm includes a radiating surface facing the acoustic opening. An innermost conductive trace on the diaphragm extends around a central region of the radiating surface within a magnetic flux of the magnet such that no conductive traces are on the central region. A radial distance between the innermost conductive trace and the mounting profile is less than another radial distance between the innermost conductive trace and the central axis. Accordingly, an excursion range of the diaphragm along the central axis is greater than a gap distance between the conductive trace and the magnet. Other aspects are also described and claimed.

Abstract: A transducer assembly including a transducer enclosure having an enclosure wall separating a surrounding ambient environment from an encased space, and a transducer module positioned within the encased space. The transducer module has a module wall that divides the encased space into an exterior chamber and an interior chamber and defines a fluid port between the exterior chamber and the interior chamber, the exterior chamber is between the module wall and the enclosure wall, the interior chamber is between the module wall and a sound radiating surface positioned within the transducer module, and the interior chamber is acoustically coupled to an acoustic port to the surrounding ambient environment. The enclosure wall is movable relative to the module wall and movement of the enclosure wall causes ejection of a fluid out of the interior chamber to the ambient environment.
