    摘要: The invention provides a fiber containing carbon which is less deteriorated in terms of electron emission characteristic, is excellent in terms of reproducibility, and can in addition be formed at a low cost, a substrate and electron emission device using the fiber containing carbon, an electron source using the electron emission device, a display panel using the electron source, and an information displaying/playing apparatus using the display panel, and a method of manufacturing these. The manufacturing method comprises a first step of preparing a substrate (substrate 1) equipped with a catalyst (catalyst layer 3) on its surface; and a second step of causing the fiber containing carbon (carbon fiber 4) to grow using the catalyst, whereby the second step comprises, in order to decrease, from a midway point of time in this step, the growth rate at which the fiber containing carbon grows, a sub-step of controlling the growth conditions for the fiber containing carbon.

    摘要: An image quality detecting apparatus detects image quality based on a specified image pattern formed on an image carrier. This apparatus includes a light-emitting device that radiates a spotlight on the image carrier, a lens, a scanning unit that scans the image pattern with the spotlight, and a photoelectric conversion element that detects a quantity of light reflected from the image pattern and the image carrier or light transmitted through the image pattern and the image carrier during the scanning. The image quality is detected by setting a diameter of the spotlight at least in a scanning direction to the reciprocal number of a spatial frequency or smaller in which human eyesight is the most sensitive, for example, to 1000 μm or less.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method of producing an electron emitting device using a carbon fiber using a catalyst, capable of preferably growing carbon fibers at a low temperature without the need of a high temperature process for growing the carbon fibers or a high temperature alloy process on a substrate, and growing the carbon fibers by a density capable of applying an electric field necessary for the electron emission further effectively. Using alloy particles containing Pd and at least one element selected from the group consisting of Fe, Co, Ni, Y, Rh, Pt, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, and Lu as the catalyst, a dispersion of the alloy particles is applied on a carbon fiber producing subject surface for providing the alloy particles so as to grow the carbon fibers.
