    Abstract: A cellular system includes cell sites, each having multiple cells. Each cell identifies a radio coverage area and includes communication equipment. A method for managing the cellular system includes determining, among the cell sites, a candidate cell site to be at least partially deactivated. The candidate cell includes at least one associated cell with a load factor below a threshold. Replacement cells are selected from other cell sites, where the replacement cells are adjacent to the candidate cell. A target geographical area enclosing the area of the candidate cell and that of the replacement cells is identified, and a transmission parameter for the target geographical area is determined. Communication equipment associated with the replacement cells is selected and configured based on the transmission parameter. Then the candidate cell monitors the transmission parameter in the target geographic area, and at least partially deactivates based on the monitoring.

The method comprises: providing, from a second user device, a user identifier to a service provider of the content service, the second user device being provided with a subscriber identity module enabling the second user device to connect to a cellular communication network, the user identifier comprising an identifier of the subscriber identity module; at the second user device, receiving an access key from the service provider, through the cellular communication network, the access key being associated with the user identifier; providing the access key from the second user device to the first user device through a short-range connection, and at the first user device, using the access key to access the multimedia content.

    Abstract: It is disclosed a method and system for recognizing coffee capsules used by a capsule coffee machine, wherein a vibration sensor is arranged within the capsule coffee machine to detect vibrations of a machine component (e.g. the pump, or the capsule holder, or the hydraulic circuit connecting the pump with the capsule holder) rigidly connected with the coffee capsule fitted in the machine during the brewing of a coffee beverage. As the brewing is started, the vibration sensor detects the vibrations to which the machine component (and all the other machine components rigidly connected thereto during the brewing, including the variable-mass coffee capsule) is subjected, and generates a vibration signal corresponding thereto. The vibration signal is then processed for determining at least one parameter thereof. The coffee capsule is then recognized based on the value of the determined parameter(s).

    Abstract: It is disclosed a method and system for managing a home gateway with mobile connectivity to a WAN, wherein a management server activates the home gateway only if its current position matches a location to which use of the home gateway shall be bound as selected by the user. In order to select such location, a client application executed by the personal mobile device of the user requests the user to place the personal mobile device next to the home gateway and detect its own current position. The client application then requests the user to confirm that the detected current position of the personal mobile device is the location to which use of the home gateway shall be bound. The detected current position of the personal mobile device is then sent to the management server, which uses it to determine whether the home gateway may be activated.

    Abstract: A method includes predicting the number of users of user terminals gathering in a target area within a region on a first day. The method includes collecting records relating to user terminals positioning data, and partitioning a portion of the region of interest into an intermediate area surrounding the target area and an external area which surrounds the intermediate area. For each observation time slot, a first term indicative of the number of user terminals moving from the external area to the intermediate area are calculated during said observation time slot based, a second term indicative of user terminals which, during a reference day preceding the first day, moved from the external area to the intermediate area is calculated, and the difference between said first term and said second term is calculated. The number of new user terminals which entering the target area is predicted based on the difference.

    Abstract: A method for enabling a performance measurement on packet flow transmitted through a communication network. A marking value is periodically switched in the packets with a marking period Tm. The packet flow is then divided into blocks of duration Ts (synchronization period). Each synchronization period comprises an integer number of marking periods. Two or more measurement points on the path of the packet flow may provide a performance parameter for each marking period and associate thereto a synchronization information generated based on their local clocks and relating to the synchronization period containing the marking period to which the performance parameter relates; and a sequence information indicating the marking period's position within the synchronization period. A management server may identify performance parameters provided by different measurement points and relating to a same marking period based on the synchronization information and the sequence information.

    Abstract: A method for a wireless network, including a node and a first device covered by the node, the node acting as serving node for the first device, and the first device transmitting first data to the node over a first link, includes determining presence of a second device covered by the node, the second device transmitting second data to a serving node over a second link, determining radio quality of the first link, determining radio quality of the second link, and determining radio quality of a third link between the second device and the first device. If the radio quality of the third link is higher than the radio quality of the second link, the second device transmits the second data to the first device over the third link and the first device retransmits, over the first link, the second data to the node.
