    Abstract: Split synchronization signal configuration for unified synchronization channels and techniques for indicating communication block boundaries in wireless communication systems that use a unified synchronization signal configuration that may be used in different communication modes are described. The disclosed split synchronization signal configuration allows the same synchronization signal configuration to be used in different communication modes (or numerologies) that operate on different frequencies. The boundary indication techniques of embodiments allow efficient indication of the beginning of a communication block (such as a frame, subframe, or slot) relative to the beginning of a unified synchronization signal configuration.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In wireless systems supporting multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) transmissions, devices may implement beam-forming to improve reliability of communications. A user equipment (UE) may select a set of beams, and corresponding beam indices, for communication based on reference signals received from a base station. The UE may determine values corresponding to each of the beam indices using a scalable set of tables. For example, the UE may select a subset of the tables based on the number of selected beams, and may determine the values based on these tables. In this way, the UE may efficiently store sets of tables for multiple different configurations. The UE may sum the corresponding values to obtain a combination index value, and may transmit the combination index value to the base station. The base station may determine the selected beams based on this combination index value.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques for reducing the decoding complexity for low cost devices (e.g., low cost UEs). One technique may include simplifying the PDCCH format. This may include generating a compact DCI format for transmitting DCI to a low cost device. The compact DCI format may correspond to at least one standard DCI format used by a regular UE and may comprise a reduced number of bits when compared to the standard DCI format. Another technique may include reducing the number of blind decodes. This technique may include selecting a set of resources for transmitting DCI from a limited set of decoding candidates, such that a receiving low cost device need only perform blind decodes for the limited set of decoding candidates.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for enabling an UE to selecting acknowledgement/non-acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) resources from a subset of a gNB resource pool. The example method may receive, from an gNB, a radio resource control (RRC) configuration indicating a UE-specific resource set that is a subset of a gNB resource pool. The UE may determine one or more ACK/NACK resources from the UE-specific resource set for an upcoming physical uplink control channel (PUCCH). In some aspects, the UE may determine the one or more ACK/NACK resources based on receiving, from the gNB, a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) including a corresponding ACK/NACK resource configuration. In other aspects, the RRC may contain multiple resource subsets and the UE may determine the one or more ACK/NACK resources based on determining a size of a payload for a UCI to be transmitted on the PUCCH. The aspects may thus enable dynamic ACK/NACK resource allocation.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques for non-codebook based uplink (UL) transmission. In some cases, a user equipment (UE) may signal, to a network entity, capability information of the UE for non-codebook uplink transmissions. The UE may then receive, signaling, from the network entity, indicating a plurality of sounding reference signal (SRS) configurations based at least on the signaled capability information, wherein at least one configuration indicates at least one SRS resource and determine a plurality of precoding candidates, wherein each precoding candidate is associated with a configured SRS resource. The UE may then transmit the SRSs using the associated precoding candidates.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques and apparatus for performing paging and/or random access procedures with multiple physical resource blocks (PRBs) for narrowband (NB) internet-of-things (IoT). In one aspect, a method is provided which may be performed by a base station. The method generally includes determining a first set of resources and a second set of resources available for narrowband communications with one or more first user equipments (UEs) and one or more second UEs. The method also includes allocating the first and second set of resources to one or more of the first UEs and the second UEs based at least in part on a type of the first UEs and a type of the second UEs. The method further includes signaling an indication of the allocation.

    Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided that may be configured to receive a downlink control message, to determine a beta offset value for transmitting UCI based at least in part on the downlink control message, and to transmit the UCI on an uplink shared channel interleaved with data based on the determined beta offset value. The apparatus may identify the beta offset from a set of values based on the downlink control message. An apparatus may identify resources allocated for PUSCH and may map UCI to the identified resources for PUSCH in a frequency interleaved manner over a bandwidth of the identified resources. The apparatus may map data to the identified resources in a time-first or frequency-first manner, and may transmit a signal comprising UCI and data on the identified resources of the PUSCH in accordance with the mapping.
