Abstract:
A system for resolving disputes in an online answers community is disclosed. The system improves the system's ability to resolve reports of abuse.
Abstract:
A system and method for presentation of media related to a context. A request is received over a network from a requesting device for media related to a context, wherein the request comprises at least one criteria. A query is formulated based on the context criteria so as to search, via the network, for user profile data, social network data, spatial data, temporal data and topical data that is available via the network and relates to the context and to media files so as to identify at least one media file that is relevant to the context criteria. A playlist is assembled via the network containing a reference to the media files. The media files on the playlist are transmitted over the network to the requesting device.
Abstract:
An air handler building structure is disclosed, which includes a floor, a plurality of lateral walls, a roof, and one or more openings located either on the roof or on at least one of the lateral walls. The lateral walls include a lower and an upper lateral walls opposing to each other having different respective heights determined in accordance with a ratio. The roof has a pitch consistent with the ratio associated with the lower and upper lateral walls. The shape of the building structure allows air within the building structure to rise via natural convection. In addition, a first dimension along a first direction defined between the lower and upper lateral walls relative to a second dimension along a second direction perpendicular to the first direction is such that the building structure provides access to outside natural air via one or more openings on the lower lateral wall.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed towards systems and methods for trust propagation. The method according to one embodiment comprises calculating a first feature vector for a first user, calculating a second feature for a second user and comparing the first feature vector with the second feature vector to calculate a similarity value. A determination is made as to whether the similarity value falls within a threshold. If the similarity value falls within the threshold, a relationship is recorded between the first user and the second user in a first user profile and a second user profile.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention are directed to using image data and contextual data to determine information about a scene, based on one or more previously obtained images. Contextual data, such location of image capture, can be used to determine previously obtained images related to the contextual data and other location-related information, such as billboard locations. With even low resolution devices, such as cell phone, image attributes, such as a histogram or optically recognized characters, can be compared between the previously obtained images and the newly captured image. Attributes matching within a predefined threshold indicate matching images. Information on the content of matching previously obtained images can be provided back to a user who captured the new image. User profile data can refine the content information. The content information can also be used as search terms for additional searching or other processing.
Abstract:
System and method for presenting geolocated relevance-based content. In one example, presence of a user is detected at a location. A plurality of search queries associated with the location are obtained. At least one search query is identified from the plurality of search queries based on information associated with the user. A search result is then generated based on the at least one identified search query to the user.
Abstract:
Facilitating browser access to cached content available from a peer to peer network by receiving a request for content from a content server, receiving from the content server content metadata indicating that the requested content is available from at least one alternative user computing device via a peer to peer network, instantiating on the user computing device a browser helper application which facilitates access to the peer to peer network, and receiving from the content server a lookup table comprising a list of alternative user computing devices from which the requested content is available. The lookup table can be parsed to select an alternative user computing device from which the content, or portions thereof, is requested. The received content can the be stored for later use or presented to the user via the browser.
Abstract:
A method and network architecture through which user-specific media profile data can be made available to third parties. A browser is optionally enhanced to facilitate playback and control of one or more media players, thereby allowing the user to play content via the browser. As the user plays content in the browser or any of the media players, information is collected about the content and stored in a database. By monitoring all media-related interactions made by the user within the browser, the collected content information can encompass information from a wide range of sources. User-specific profile data is then determined based on the collected data and such user-specific profile data is made available to third parties. The user-specific profile data can be used, for example, for social networking purposes, and may also be used to drive advertisements or other content to the user.
Abstract:
According to one aspect of the present invention, a method of actively engaging a user of a search system can include receiving from the user a search query for a search of a corpus of information and providing the user with search results for the search. The user can also be prompted to participate in a search-related activity wherein at least one aspect of the search-related activity is dependent on a context of the search. User input for performing the search-related activity can be accepted and an activity response can be provided to the user.
Abstract:
Methods are systems are provided that include obtaining a digital image from a digital photograph, such as may be taken by a digital camera or a camera phone. The digital image includes, for example, a URI or URL, which may be contained within a visible frame. A character recognition technique, such as an optical character recognition technique, may be used to recognize the URI or URL from the digital image. The URI or URL may be used to access a corresponding Web page. The character recognition technique may be applied on the digital camera or cell phone itself, or remotely.
