Abstract: A user equipment (UE) having a first capability associated with a lower maximum UE bandwidth than a second capability performs at least a part of initial access based on an initial downlink bandwidth part (BWP) that is shared among UEs having the first capability and UEs having the second capability. The UE switches, after the initial access, to an active downlink BWP and an active uplink BWP that are dedicated for the UEs having the first capability to perform random access, paging, system acquisition, measurement and data communication procedures.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for hop-count indication in an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) network. An IAB-node may adopt and indicate multiple values for hop-count. The hop-count may be conveyed by a number of different reference signals and channels. A resource pattern and/or a slot pattern may also be associated with the hop-count to simply signaling. By associating the patterns with the hop-count, an IAB-node may be able to infer the resource pattern used by another IAB-node.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, Generally, a base station may send to a user equipment (UE) a configuration message, which may include an indication of one or more CSI-RS resources and one or more random access occasion indices. The UE may identify one or more random access occasions associated with the UE based on the CSI-RS resources, the random access occasion indices for the UE, and a random access occasion index reset time. The random access occasion index rest time may be based on a fixed time period. The random access occasion index reset time may be based on a number of CSI-RS resources. In some examples, the random access occasion index reset time may be based on a number of actually transmitted synchronization signal blocks (SSBs).

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for determining a timing resolution and a range of reported timing measurements used for position estimation. For example, in various embodiments, a user equipment (UE) may receive positioning beacons from multiple network nodes (e.g., different base stations, distant transmission points belonging to one base station, etc.), measure an observed time difference of arrival (OTDOA) between the received positioning beacons, and quantize the measured OTDOA according to a timing resolution and/or a range that depend at least in part on one or more signal parameters associated with the received positioning beacons. Accordingly, the UE may then transmit a report containing the quantized OTDOA to a network entity, which may correspond to one or more of the network nodes from which the positioning beacons were received (e.g., a serving base station) or a location server.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for transmission of random access preambles from a UE based at least in part on a synchronization signal block (SSB) that is received from a base station. A random access response may be transmitted from the base station based at least in part on a random access resource that is used for the random access preamble, an SSB associated with the random access resource, an SSB index, or combinations thereof. In some cases, two or more SSBs may be mapped to a single random access resource, and a single random access radio network temporary identifier (RA-RNTI), or two or more RA-RNTIs, may be used for each of the two or more SSBs. In some cases, a single random access response message contains information for each UE that transmits a random access preamble in the single random access resource.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining round trip time (RTT) includes a second node, which receives a first signal from a first node at a first time, determines a timing advance based on a first estimated channel response for the first signal, and transmits at a second time, a second signal to the first node, wherein the second time occurs after the first time by an amount of a pre-specified delay for RTT estimation minus the timing advance. The first node transmits the first signal to the second node at an initial time, receives the second signal from the second node, and determines a timing statistic from a second estimated channel response for the second signal, the timing statistic estimated at a third time. The first node determines the RTT as the third time minus the initial time minus the pre-specified delay for RTT estimation.
