    Abstract: A method for adaptively disabling receiver diversity is provided. The method can include a wireless communication device determining an active data traffic pattern; defining a threshold channel quality metric based at least in part on a threshold channel quality needed to support a threshold quality of service for the active data traffic pattern; comparing a measured channel quality to the threshold channel quality metric; and disabling receiver diversity in an instance in which the measured channel quality metric satisfies the threshold channel quality metric.

    Abstract: A wireless communication device (UE) may identify a data flow type associated with data packets to be wirelessly transmitted by the wireless communication device over a wireless network during uplink communications. The UE may determine, based on the data flow type, whether to perform header compression for the data packets on a default bearer assigned to the wireless communication device and associated with the data flow for wireless communications over the wireless network. The UE may perform packet header compression for data flow types for which the packet header size is at least a specified percentage of the total packet size. Packet header compression on the default bearer may be enabled at all times, in which case the UE may indicate to the network whether the UE supports header compression on the default bearer. Alternately, the UE may trigger header compression on the default bearer based on application requirements.

    Abstract: Performing concurrent data communication and voice call monitoring using a single cellular radio. According to some embodiments, the UE may perform data communication, via the radio, using a first RAT, supported by a first SIM. The UE may also perform paging functions for a voice communication, via the radio, using a second RAT, supported by a second SIM. In some scenarios, the first and second RATs are the same. The data communication and the paging functions may be performed concurrently using shared physical layer resources. For example, the shared physical layer resources may comprise a shared software defined radio (SDR) configured to demodulate and/or decode signals of the data communication and the paging function. As another example, the shared physical layer resources may comprise a shared Rake receiver configured to demodulate signals of the data communication and the paging function.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses to use multiple receivers of a wireless communication device for fast return to a first network from a second network after termination of a Circuit Switched Fallback (CSFB) voice call is disclosed. A first receiver of the wireless communication device is used to process the CSFB voice call on the second network, while a second receiver of the wireless communication device is used to determine a strongest suitable cell available on the first network, while the voice call is active. A strongest suitable cell is instantly available to the wireless communication device after the CSFB voice call ends. In some embodiments, the first network is an LTE network, and the second network is a legacy network.

    Abstract: A method using multiple receivers of a wireless communication device to accelerate cell selection and reselection is disclosed. Multiple receivers of the wireless device are used to implement carrier aggregation in LTE connected mode. The multiple receivers of the wireless device are used to search for cells concurrently across multiple radio frequency bands and/or multiple radio access technologies during cell selection and/or cell reselection procedures. A first receiver and a second receiver of the wireless device each search for cells over different radio frequency bands simultaneously, and accordingly the cell selection and reselection time is effectively reduced compared to using only one receiver. Multiple receivers are also used concurrently, in parallel, to accelerate inter-frequency cell detection and measurement and for inter-RAT searches and measurements.
