Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device to perform enhanced duplication handling and/or failure handling procedures with a network, including one or more base station. The wireless device may connect to a network using multiple paths. The wireless device may autonomously determine whether to duplicate one or more transmissions to the network on the multiple paths. In the event of a radio link control failure associated with one bearer, the wireless device may suspend transmission of the failed bearer while continuing to use one or more other bearers for transmission.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to performing cell re-selection while in an inactive state in a cellular communication system. A wireless device may establish a radio resource control connection with a cellular base station. The wireless device may receive an indication to enter a radio resource control inactive state. The wireless device may perform cell re-selection while in the radio resource control inactive state. Cells that are in the current radio access network notification area of the wireless device may be prioritized over cells that are not in the current radio access network notification area of the wireless device when performing cell re-selection while in the radio resource control inactive state.

The cellular base station may also transmit a radio resource control message that includes information configured to be relayed to the remote wireless device to the relay wireless device, which may relay the information to the remote wireless device.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) includes first and second subscriber identity modules (SIMs), possibly subscribed to different carriers. When the first SIM is in a connected state and the second SIM is in an idle state, the UE may need to periodically tune away a radio from a first frequency used for communication under the first SIM to a second frequency used for idle mode activity under the second SIM. The UE may provide to the network of the first SIM the second SIMs traffic activity pattern and/or serving frequency so that the network may provide coordinated configuration and/or scheduling for the UE device, e.g., in order to make the action of tuning away (and tuning back) the radio more efficient and/or to decrease the network impact of such radio tune aways (e.g., to decrease wasted uplink scheduling and wasted downlink transmissions for the first SIM).

Abstract: A device and method for a user equipment (UE) to implement power savings mechanisms when operating within a significant location. The UE identifies that the UE is at a significant location. The significant location is a location relative to a currently camped cell of a network. At a first time and at the significant location, the UE performs a type of operation related to the network connection. The UE stores information corresponding to the performance of the type of operation at the first time in a profile associated with the significant location. At a second time and at the significant location, the UE performs the type of operation related to the network connection. The performance of the type of operation at the second time is modified based on the information stored in the profile associated with the significant location.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for using an assistance information framework to perform fast carrier aggregation and dual connectivity configuration. A wireless device may provide assistance information for determining a carrier aggregation or dual connectivity configuration to a cellular base station. The assistance information may be provided while establishing a radio resource control connection. The assistance information may include either or both of carrier aggregation or dual connectivity preference information for the wireless device or service data amount information for the wireless device. The cellular base station may select a carrier aggregation or dual connectivity configuration for the wireless device based on the assistance information, and may provide configuration information for the selected configuration to the wireless device.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for improving efficiency in IMS registration and management in a wireless communication device, such as a UE. In some scenarios, the UE may, while implementing IMS services (e.g. for VoLTE) over a wireless communication link with a cellular network, determine that the wireless communication link is not performing at an acceptable level. In response, the UE may start a timer and buffer IMS SIP signaling messages while the timer is running. If the wireless communication link performance is restored to an acceptable level before expiration of the timer, the UE may transmit the buffered IMS SIP signaling messages. If the timer expires prior to restoration of the wireless communication link, the buffered messages may be cleared, and the UE may locally deregister from IMS registration and IMS PDN. In some scenarios, select IMS SIP signaling messages may be omitted or removed from the buffer.

Abstract: A device (e.g. a wireless communication device) may determine, according to a set of guidelines, a list that includes system information to be requested by the device as part of a system information request procedure. The device may determine whether to combine the system information request with an additional request associated with a random access procedure (RACH). In response to determining that the requests are to be combined, the device may initiate a unified RACH that combines the system information request and the additional request. The decision to combine the requests may be based on the type of the additional request, whether the list has been completed by the time the additional request is to be issued, and/or additional factors associated with wireless communications of the device. The system information request may be an OnDemand system information block request, and the RACH may be contention-based or contention-free.

Abstract: A user equipment device (UE) may receive a schedule for a listen before talk (LBT) procedure for a secondary component carrier on a first subscription associated with the UE that includes a radio frequency resource of the UE. The UE may determine a requirement to perform at least one operation on a second subscription associated with the UE that also includes the radio frequency resource. The UE may determine that performance of the at least one operation (at least partially) interferes (time overlaps) with performance of the LBT procedure. In response, the UE may initiate at least one scheduling operation at the UE to avoid interference between performance of the at least one operation on the second subscription and performance of the LBT procedure on the first subscription.
