Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. One method includes detecting a first reference signal received from a user equipment (UE) in a reference scheduled transmission burst including a plurality of contiguous transmission time intervals (TTIs) received over a shared radio frequency spectrum band; identifying a reference TTI in which the first reference signal is received; determining a contention window size usable by the UE to contend for access to the shared radio frequency spectrum band; and transmitting an indication of the determined contention window size to the UE.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for wireless communication are described. A method may include receiving at a user equipment (UE) a number of allocated interlaces for an uplink transmission over a shared spectrum, each of which may include a plurality of non-contiguous resource blocks (RB) of the shared spectrum. In some cases, the number of allocated interlaces is unsupported by joint interlace precoding hardware of the UE and the allocated interlaces may be partitioned into subsets of interlaces which may be a size supported by the joint interlace precoding hardware. Reference signals may be generated for the RBs of the allocated interlaces according to a reference signal sequence based on an ordering of the RBs for the allocated interlaces within the shared spectrum.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A communication device, such as a user equipment (UE) may transmit a message to a base station (e.g., a NodeB, an eNodeB (eNB), a next-generation NodeB or a giga-NodeB (either of which may be referred to as a gNB)) in wireless communications with the UE. The message may include a UE capability to append a preamble waveform to an uplink transmission to the base station. In some examples, a preamble waveform may include a Wi-Fi preamble or a new radio unlicensed (NR-U) preamble. Based on the UE capability, the base station may determine and transmit a preamble configuration to the UE, which the UE may use to generate and append a preamble waveform to another message for an uplink transmission to the base station.

Abstract: Uplink waveforms for operating long term evolution (LTE) in an unlicensed band (i.e., long term evolution-unlicensed (LTE-U) communication) are disclosed. Carrier aggregation (CA) and standalone (SA) are disclosed. LTE on the licensed channel may provide both control and data, LTE on the unlicensed channel may provide data. Managing variable transmission time interval (TTI) continuous transmission is disclosed for transmission over multiple subframes of an unlicensed carrier in LTE-U. Listen-before-talk (LBT) requirements of unlicensed carriers provide for additional channel occupancy constraints when scheduling resources for multiple UEs for variable TTI continuous uplink transmissions over multiple subframes. A joint control channel is disclosed that provides control information for all of the potentially available subframes to be scheduled for the uplink transmissions. In addition to management of the variable TTI continuous transmissions, adjustments to uplink signal parameters are also disclosed that address the constraints due to the LBT requirements of unlicensed carriers.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. In one method, a control format indicator value for a frame may be received over a physical carrier in a shared spectrum. Based on the control format indicator value, a number of subframes of the frame to be used by a base station for downlink transmissions over the physical carrier may be determined. The control format indicator value may indicate an end of transmission, if data is to be transmitted during the frame, a number of subframes to be used for transmission, or whether the current subframe is the final subframe used for transmission. In some cases, a user equipment (UE) may use the control format indicator value to determine a sleep schedule. Further, ACK/NACK transmissions by a UE may be scheduled based on the control format indicator value.

Abstract: The disclosure provides for detecting interference in wireless communications. A wireless devices may receive an interfering signal on a portion of unlicensed spectrum. The wireless device may perform cyclic autocorrelation on the interfering signal to determine one or both of a cyclic prefix length and a symbol period. The wireless device may determine a radio access technology of the interfering signal based on one or both of the cyclic prefix length and the symbol period. In an aspect, the wireless device may further transmit an interference report including information regarding the interfering signal including the cyclic prefix length, symbol period, identified radio access technology, or packet length.

Abstract: Various aspects of utilizing narrowband internet of things (NB IOT) communication are still under development. According to an aspect of the disclosure, the apparatus may be a user equipment (UE) using digital modulation for wireless communication via NB IOT communication in an unlicensed spectrum. The UE utilizes a plurality of downlink carriers in the unlicensed spectrum occupying at least a first minimum bandwidth by the plurality of downlink carriers and a plurality of uplink carriers in the unlicensed spectrum occupying at least a second minimum bandwidth with the plurality of uplink carriers. The UE performs communication using one or more of the plurality of downlink carriers and the plurality of uplink carriers.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described for synchronization for wideband coverage enhancement. A user equipment (UE) may receive a primary synchronization signal (PSS) and a secondary synchronization signal (SSS) in a subframe. In one example, the SSS may be received in a symbol that is after a symbol in which the PSS is received, and after a set of symbols in which a set of other synchronization signals is received. In another example, the PSS may be received in each of a first plurality of consecutive symbols, and the SSS may be received in each of a second plurality of consecutive symbols, wherein the second plurality of consecutive symbols is after the first plurality of consecutive symbols within the subframe. The UE may synchronize with a base station based at least in part on the PSS and the SSS. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Abstract: The present disclosure, for example, relates to one or more techniques for scaling the bandwidth of a carrier. Available sub-channels of an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band may be determined, and the available sub-channels may be included in the carrier. The available sub-channels may be adjacent or non-adjacent sub-channels. The bandwidth of the carrier may be determined according to which sub-channels are included in the carrier. In this way, the bandwidth of the carrier may be scaled according to the available sub-channels in the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band.

Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to coordinating shared radio resources for spectrum sharing are provided. A spectrum resource control unit allocates a first resource for exclusive access by a first network operating entity in a spectrum. The exclusive access is configured for at least one of a network information communication or a feedback communication. The spectrum resource control unit allocates a second resource in the spectrum for shared access by the first network operating entity and a second network operating entity. The shared access is configured for at least a downlink control information communication. The spectrum resource control unit transmits, to the first network operating entity and the second network operating entity, a configuration indicating the first resource allocated for exclusive access by the first network operating entity and the second resource allocated for shared access by the first network operating entity and the second network operating entity.
