Abstract: Techniques for autonomous uplink (AUL) transmissions are provided that allow for efficient use of shared radio frequency spectrum band resources. A user equipment (UE) may determine a duration of an AUL transmission and modify an uplink waveform or provide an indication to a base station of one or more channel resources that may be available for base station transmissions, in order to more fully utilize shared radio frequency spectrum band resources within a maximum channel occupancy time (MCOT). A base station may activate or deactivate AUL transmissions through downlink control information (DCI) transmitted to the UE. A UE and base station may exchange various other control information to provide relatively efficient autonomous uplink transmissions and use of the shared radio frequency spectrum band resources.

Abstract: Described techniques provide for switching a user equipment (UE) between different coverage enhancement (CE) modes, such as between a non-CE mode and a CE mode. A UE may determine that a CE mode switch is to be performed and may initiate the mode switching. The UE may compare signal qualities of signals from one or more base stations against one or more threshold values and determine that a switch from a CE mode to a non-CE mode, or from a non-CE to CE mode, is to be performed. In some cases, a UE may be in idle mode and switch between CE modes, or may perform a cell reselection to a different base station. In other cases, a UE may be in connected mode and may declare a radio link failure to initiate a mode switch. A base station may initiate mode switching based on radio link monitoring of UEs.

One method includes determining a contention window size for a first broadcast transmission or a first multicast transmission on at least one channel of a shared radio frequency spectrum band, where the first broadcast transmission or the first multicast transmission is targeted for a first plurality of UEs, and contending for access to the at least one channel of the shared radio frequency spectrum band for the first broadcast transmission or the first multicast transmission based at least in part on the determined contention window size. In some cases, the first broadcast transmission or the first multicast transmission may be an example of a multipoint transmission, which may include a coordinated multipoint transmission.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) configuration message from a base station, the SPS configuration message containing at least one SPS parameter for downlink SPS communications over a shared radio frequency spectrum band. The UE may identify, based on the SPS configuration, one or more subframes or slots allocated for the downlink SPS communications. The UE may perform the downlink SPS communications during the one or more subframes or slots and according to the SPS configuration.

A user equipment (UE) may identify that the UE is configured to use a two-step random access channel (RACH) procedure. The two-step RACH procedure may include an uplink request message and a downlink response. The UE may transmit the uplink request message as part of the two-step RACH procedure, and the uplink request message may include a preamble portion that is one of a set of predefined sequences and a payload portion that includes a physical uplink shared channel waveform. The UE may receive the downlink response as part of the two-step RACH procedure and in response to the uplink request message.

The wireless communication device receives, from a second group of one or more TRPs, a second signal during a second time period, wherein at least one TRP in the second group is not in the first group. The first signal may include a first transport block (TB) and the second signal may include a second TB different from the first TB. Alternatively, the first signal may include a first portion of a TB and the second signal includes a second portion of the TB different from the first portion.

A user equipment (UE) may receive a transport block (TB) of data from a network, decode the TB of data, transmit to the network a first acknowledgement based on a result of the decoding, receive a signal from the network that includes an acknowledgement retransmission request and a TB indication that indicates a TB of data to which the acknowledgement retransmission request relates, determine a second acknowledgement based on the acknowledgement retransmission request and the TB indication, and transmit the second acknowledgement to the network.

Abstract: Enhancements to slot format indicator (SFI) for new radio (NR) unlicensed (NR-U) operations is disclosed. The SFI may be transmitted separately from a channel occupancy time (COT) range indication. The COT range indication identifies parameters of a three-segment structure of a current COT within the current TxOP. Upon receiving the SFI and COT range indication, a UE may engage in communications with the serving UE in accordance with the COT range indication and the SFI.
