Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may transmit a set of system information to a user equipment (UE), and the UE may identify an operation mode indicating that the system information is applicable for a plurality cells. When the UE detects that it is in a new cell associated with a second base station, the UE may apply the received system information to establish a communication channel in the new cell associated with the second base station. As such, rather than receiving and decoding new system information upon detection of a new cell/base station, the UE may be able to efficiently apply the known system information to establish a connection in the new cell.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques provide for a first user equipment (UE) establishing a sidelink connection with a second UE. The first UE may identify a frame structure for the first UE to communicate with a base station. The frame structure may include one or more downlink slots and one or more uplink slots. The base station may indicate a set of resources for the sidelink connection with the second UE. The set of resources may include at least one downlink slot of the one or more downlink slots. In accordance with the indication, the first UE may communicate with the second UE on the sidelink connection and using at least one beam and the indicated set of resources. The communication with the second UE may utilize at least the resources in the at least one downlink slot.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A device in communications with a second device may receive a message from the second device. After receiving, the device selects between a decode-and-forward (DF) or an amplify-and-forward (AF) transmission scheme for forwarding the message to a base station. The selection may be made using one or more trigger conditions associated with the transmitting device, the receiving device, or the base station, such as power availability at the device, processing capability of the device, or beam parameters such as beam width, array gain, or other conditions. After selecting, the device may use the selected transmission scheme for forwarding a packet from the second device to the base station.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for transmission configuration indication states that indicate quasi-collocation relationships. For example, a user equipment (UE) may transmit an uplink reference signal to a base station and receive, in response, a transmission configuration indication state from the base station that is based on the uplink reference signal. In some examples, the transmission configuration indication state may indicate a quasi-collocation relationship between the uplink reference signal and one or more reference signals associated with a downlink channel. In some implementations, the quasi-collocation relationship may be a spatial relationship between one or more antenna ports associated with the base station used to receive the uplink reference signal and one or more antenna ports used to transmit downlink data. The UE may receive downlink data based on the transmission configuration indication state and the indicated quasi-collocation relationship.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The method includes a method for wireless communications at a base station. The method includes transmitting a message to a number of user equipments (UEs) over a single frequency network channel using a first beam sweep pattern. The method also includes identifying a second beam sweep pattern from a plurality of beam sweep patterns that is different from the first beam sweep pattern for retransmissions of the message. The method further includes transmitting a retransmission of the message to the plurality of UEs over the single frequency network channel using the second beam sweep pattern.

Abstract: Wireless communications systems may support identification or determination of a common default beam for a component carrier (CC) group (e.g., such that all CCs of a CC group may be associated with a same default beam). For example, a CC group may be configured or established to include one or more CCs (e.g., for carrier aggregation), where each CC group may share a same analog beamformer. As such, a beam (e.g., a default uplink/downlink beam) may be established as default or common across CCs of a CC group (e.g., versus default beams being configured or established for individual CCs). Such an established default beam of a CC group (e.g., a default beam common to all CCs of a CC group) may include or refer to a default downlink shared channel beam, a default sounding reference signal (SRS) beam, a default downlink control channel beam, etc.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may indicate a group of component carriers (CCs) or frequency bands that share quasi co-location (QCL) information. For example, a base station may indicate a set of CCs to a UE. The UE may report, to the base station, a group of CCs, bandwidth parts (BWPs), or both that share a QCL property. For example, the report may include a list of CCs, frequency bands, BWPs, frequency ranges (FRs), or some combination thereof sharing the same QCL property, or the report may indicate whether the CCs in a band share the same QCL property. Based on this report, the base station may activate a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state at the UE, where the UE may activate the TCI state across the group of CCs, BWPs, or both sharing the same QCL property.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may perform path-loss estimation to support uplink transmit power control. The UE may perform path-loss estimations on path-loss reference signals configured by a base station. In some cases, the base station may update (e.g., activate, deactivate, or both) particular path-loss reference signals using a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE). The UE may determine which path-loss reference signal or signals to use for path-loss estimation based on one or more techniques. For example, the UE may filter path-loss measurements over a time duration or may use a single, unfiltered path-loss measurement for path-loss estimation. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may receive deactivated path-loss reference signals (e.g., for a set amount of time or for any amount of time) or may refrain from receiving deactivated path-loss reference signals.
