    Abstract: A network device (e.g., a user equipment (UE), or a new radio NB (gNB)) can process or generate a configuration of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring in different search spaces sets independently from one another in order to manage different services optimally. A processor of the network device can be configured to receive physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) candidates of a PDCCH in a slot for channel estimation across search spaces of the slot. Different priorities can be determined among the PDCCH candidates in the slot based on a priority rule. Then a number of PDCCH candidates can be skipped/dropped from monitoring based on the different priorities of the PDCCH candidates to ensure that a threshold level of blind decoding operations across a plurality of slots of the PDCCH is being satisfied. The UE can monitor a portion of the PDCCH candidates while concurrently skipping another.

    Abstract: A user equipment (UE) or network device gNB can process or generate downlink control information transmissions for new radio (NR) systems or networks based on a compact DCI format. The DCI can include a grouped broadcast message for reduced signaling overhead that comprises random access response (RAR) message, a paging message, a system information block (SIB) message, another message information type, or any combination thereof. The DCI transmission can be determined as comprising paging information based on a direct indication in a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) only or both in the PDCCH and a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) based on a flag field of the DCI transmission. Other configurations can also further reduce signaling overhead additionally or alternatively.

    Abstract: Provided herein are method and apparatus for channel coding in the fifth Generation (5G) New Radio (NR) system. An embodiment provides an apparatus for a Next Generation NodeB (gNB), including circuitry, which is configured to: generate Downlink Control Information (DCI) payload for a NR-Physical Downlink Control Channel (NR-PDCCH); attach Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) to the DCI payload; mask the CRC with an Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RNTI) using a bitwise modulus 2 addition operation, wherein the number of bits for the RNTI is different from the number of bits for the CRC; and perform polar encoding for the DCI payload with the masked CRC.

    Abstract: Technology for an eNodeB operable to perform downlink (DL) transmissions using a Long Term Evolution (LTE) control region of a subframe for enhanced machine type communication (eMTC) is disclosed. The eNodeB can encode a system information block type 1 bandwidth reduced (SIB1-BR) for transmission 5 to a bandwidth reduced low complexity or coverage enhancement (BL/CE) user equipment (UE). The SIB1-BR can include an indication that the LTE control region in the subframe includes information for at least one of a machine type communication (MTC) physical downlink control channel (MPDCCH) transmission or a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission. 10 The eNodeB can encode at least one of the MPDCCH transmission or the PDSCH transmission for delivery in a downlink over the LTE control region in the subframe to the BL/CE UE.

    Abstract: Embodiments described herein include user equipment (UE), evolved node B (eNB), methods, and systems for narrowband Internet-of-Things (IoT) communications. Some embodiments particularly relate to control channel communications between UE and eNB in narrowband IoT communications. In one embodiment, a UE blind decodes a first control transmission from an evolved node B (eNB) by processing a first physical resource block comprising all subcarriers of the transmission bandwidth and all orthogonal frequency division multiplexed symbols of a first subframe to determine the first control transmission. In various further embodiments, various resource groupings of resource elements are used as part of the control communications.
