    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein for recommending a pause position. Media content is provided to the user device. In response to receiving a pause command, a measure of memorability of a current scene of the media content is determined. In response to receiving a pause command, a measure of memorability of a subsequent scene of the media content is determined. in response to determining that the subsequent scene is more memorable than the current scene, a recommendation is provided to a user to pause the media content after the subsequent scene. In response to determining that the subsequent scene is not more memorable than the current scene, providing of the media content is paused at the current scene.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for dynamically modifying a playlist for reviewing highlights of a media event. A playlist comprising highlights of a media event may be generated by a media guidance application. A user command may be received by the media guidance application to extend or shorten the currently-playing segment of the playlist. To generate a longer version of the segment, the media guidance application may access the media asset from which the playlist was originally generated at a position corresponding to the currently-playing segment, and generate a longer version of the segment. To generate a shorter version of the segment, the media guidance application may remove a portion of the currently-playing segment. The media guidance application may replace the currently-playing segment with, and begin playing back, the modified version of the segment.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are described for automatically enabling subtitles based on a user profile when a language is spoken with an accent a user has difficulty understanding. For example, a media guidance application may detect a first plurality of user interactions of the user while the given language is being spoken with the accent. Based on the first plurality of interactions, the media guidance application may calculate a first value associated with a user specific level of difficulty indicating how difficult it is for the user to understand the language when spoken with the accent. If the first plurality of user interactions are not being performed again, the media guidance application may update the user specific difficulty with a second value that is lower than the first value. The media guidance application may automatically generate for display subtitles for a media asset based on the user specific level of difficulty.

    Abstract: Methods and systems are described for learning which content segments may be complex and providing enhanced content with playback of those complex segments. A complexity engine accesses content, the content includes a plurality of ordered segments and each of the plurality of segments associated with a complexity score. The complexity engine provides each of the plurality of ordered segments of the content for consumption. After receiving input that identifies a first segment of the plurality of segments as complex, the complexity engine calculates a comprehension threshold based on the complexity score associated with the first segment. While further providing content segments, the complexity engine identifies a subsequent segment where the complexity score is greater than or equal to the comprehension threshold. The complexity engine provides corresponding enhanced content with the subsequent segment.
