Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for using sounding reference signal (SRS) for positioning. In an aspect, a UE receives an SRS configuration, the SRS configuration defining one or more SRS resource sets, each SRS resource set comprising one or more SRS resources, and each SRS resource comprising one or more SRS ports, wherein at least one SRS port of at least one SRS resource of at least one SRS resource set defined in the SRS configuration is usable by the UE at least for positioning. The UE transmits a positioning SRS utilizing one or more positioning SRS ports, wherein the positioning SRS is transmitted in a positioning SRS pattern such that across N consecutive symbols, where N is greater than or equal to two, SRS resource elements (REs) to which the one or more positioning SRS ports are mapped are staggered in frequency and use each of the N consecutive symbols.

Abstract: Aspects presented herein may enable an RF sensing node to transmit RF sensing signals based on OFDM symbols that may be flexibly configured, such that OFDM symbols used for RF sensing may be different from OFDM symbols used for communications. In one aspect, an RF sensing node transmits an RF sensing signal in a first time duration of a symbol in an RF sensing session. The RF sensing node monitors for a reflected RS sensing signal in a second time duration of the symbol that does not overlap with the first time duration, the symbol including a CP that does not overlap with the first time duration and the second time duration.

Abstract: The connection between a user equipment (UE) and a base station may be authenticated in the physical layer, and the presence of an unauthorized intervening device may be identified based on predicted measurement values of downlink reference signals and the actual measurement values for the current downlink reference signals. The predicted measurement values are produced based on previous measurements of downlink reference signals that are known to be received from the base station, e.g., after upper layer initial authentication. The predicted values may be for positioning measurements, channel measurements, or velocity or direction of travel measurements, or a combination thereof. A difference between the predicted and actual measurement values indicates that the previously received reference signals and the currently received reference signals are not from the same entity, and thus, an intervening entity is likely present in the communication channel performing a man in the middle or replay attack.
