Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for design of synchronization signals for narrowband operation, which can be used for stand-alone/in-band/guard-band deployment. An example method is provided for operations which may be performed by a base station (BS). The example method generally includes generating a primary synchronization signal (PSS) utilizing a first code sequence and a cover code applied to the first code sequence over a first number of symbols within one or more subframes, generating a secondary synchronization signal (SSS) based on a second code sequence over a second number of symbols within one or more subframes, and transmitting the PSS and the SSS in the first and second subframes to a first type of a user equipment (UE) that communicates on one or more narrowband regions of wider system bandwidth.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may employ a multiplexing configuration based on latency and efficiency considerations. The base station may transmit a resource grant, a signal indicating the length of a downlink (DL) transmission time interval (TTI), and a signal indicating the length of a subsequent uplink (UL) TTI to one or more user equipment (UEs). The base station may dynamically select a new multiplexing configuration by, for example, setting the length of an UL TTI to zero or assigning multiple UEs resources in the same DL TTI. Latency may also be reduced by employing block feedback, such as block hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback. A UE may determine and transmit HARQ feedback for each transport block (TB) of a set of TBs, which may be based on a time duration of a downlink TTI.

Abstract: Certain aspects relate to methods and apparatus for latency reduction for UEs in a RRC connected mode. During contention-based uplink access by groups of UEs within a subframe, an eNB may decode the received uplink transmission based, at least in part, on the assigned group of resources assigned to the UE and used for transmission. Additional orthogonalization techniques such as reduced TTI size can be used to reduce collisions among different users performing contention-based transmissions. Furthermore, when the eNB fails to successfully decode the uplink transmission, the eNB may identify the UE that sent the uplink transmission based on a detected reference signal and may transmit an uplink assignment to the identified UE.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described in which an unlicensed spectrum is used for Long Term Evolution (LTE) communications. A first method includes synchronizing clear channel assessment (CCA) slots across a plurality of base stations to determine availability of an unlicensed spectrum for transmissions in a next transmission interval. A second method includes performing a CCA during one of a plurality of CCA slots synchronized across a plurality of evolved Node Bs (eNBs) to determine availability of unlicensed spectrum for transmissions in a next transmission interval.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to drone user equipment (UE) indications that may be conveyed to a wireless network. In particular, a UE that has flight capabilities (i.e., capabilities to operate as an unmanned aircraft system) and optional further capabilities to report a current height level may indicate such capabilities to the wireless network. As such, the wireless network may differentiate the drone UE from other UEs that only operate on the ground. Furthermore, the optional current height level may enable the wireless network to differentiate among drone UEs operating at different heights and/or from other UEs that are operating on the ground. The wireless network may further use the information indicating the flight capabilities either alone or in combination with the optional height information to configure power control parameters, manage interference, provide mobility management functions, generate neighbor lists, control beamforming, or implement a radio resource configuration or management procedure.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless system utilizing one or more time-division duplexing (TDD) configured carriers may utilize a dual transmission time interval (TTI) structure (e.g., at the subframe level and symbol-level). The symbol level TTIs may be referred to as low latency (LL) TTIs, and may be organized within LL subframes. A LL subframe may be a subframe that is scheduled for transmissions in one direction (e.g., uplink or downlink, according to a TDD configuration) and may include multiple LL symbols scheduled for both uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) transmissions. Guard periods may be scheduled between adjacent LL symbols that have opposite directions of transmission to enable user equipment (UEs) to transition from receiving mode to transmit mode (or vice versa). The LL subframes may be transparent to receiving devices that do not support LL operations.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method includes generating uplink control information at a wireless device, and transmitting the uplink control information over an interlace of a component carrier of an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. The interlace includes a plurality of non-contiguous concurrent resource blocks in the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, and at least two resource blocks in the interlace include different portions of the uplink control information. A second method includes generating uplink control information at a wireless device, and transmitting the uplink control information over an uplink control channel of an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. Resources of the uplink control channel are divided into a plurality of discrete dimensions and the uplink control information of the wireless device is transmitted over a number of the discrete dimensions allocated to the uplink control information of the wireless device.

Systems, methods, and apparatuses for two stage two-stage physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) with a downlink control information (DCI) flag and DCI format size indicator are described. For instance, the present disclosure presents an example method of wireless communication at a wireless device, which may include receiving, at a first bandwidth and during a transmission time interval (TTI), a first control channel message. In addition, the example method may include determining, based on a flag in the first control channel message, whether a second control channel message is present in the TTI. Furthermore, the example method may include receiving, at a second bandwidth, the second control channel message where the flag indicates that the second control channel message is present for the TTI.
