Abstract: An online concierge system maintains an item catalog maintaining a hierarchical taxonomy of the items. Using the hierarchical taxonomy, the online concierge system selects a cohort of items. For the cohort, the online concierge system selects an attribute and generates a distribution of values of the attribute across items in the cohort. From the distribution, the online concierge system identifies one or more items having values for the attributes that are outliers. The online concierge system may provide the identified one or more items to users for manual review to identify possible errors in the item catalog. The data regarding whether manual review identified errors is saved by the online converge system for later use as labels to train a machine learning model for detecting errors.

Abstract: An online concierge system generates an item graph connecting item nodes with attribute nodes of the items. When the online concierge system receives a search query to identify one or more items from a customer, the online concierge system parses the search query into combinations of terms and identifies item nodes and attribute nodes related to the search query. The online concierge system may determine that no item nodes meet presentation criteria. The online concierge system may determine that a reformulated search query has a higher conversion probability than the search query received from the customer. The online concierge system reformulates the search query. The online concierge system selects item nodes as search results. The online concierge system transmits the search results to the customer.

Abstract: An online system receives, scans from a plurality of picker client devices. Each scan comprises an item identifier and a location in a store where the item was scanned. The online system creates a map of the store based on location data received from a picker client device as a picker moves around the store. Using the map and the scans, the online system builds a planogram of the store. The planogram comprises a mapping of a plurality of locations in the store to one or more items at each of the plurality of locations. The online system receives an order of items to be fulfilled at the store from a customer client device and determines location information describing locations of the items in the store based on the planogram. The online system transmits, to a picker mobile device, the location information for display.

Abstract: An online concierge system receives an order from a customer with a list of items and allocates the order to a retailer at which the items can be picked. The retailer is associated with a payment processing system having a corresponding tokenization process. The online concierge system uses the tokenization process for the retailer to generate a payment token for the customer based on stored payment data and transmits the payment token to the payment processing system. The online concierge system determines a first payment amount from the customer to the retailer based on items picked at the retailer and a second payment amount from the retailer to the online concierge system. The payment processing system charges the customer a sum of the first payment amount and the second payment amount using the payment token. The online concierge system receives the second payment amount from the payment processing system.

Abstract: An online system predicts replacement items for presentation to a user using a machine-learning model. The online system receives interaction data describing a user's interaction with the online system. In particular, the interaction data describes an initial item that the user added to their item list. The online system identifies a set of candidate items that could be presented to the user as potential replacements for the initially-added item. The online system applies a replacement prediction model to each of these candidate items to generate a replacement score for the candidate items. The online system selects a proposed replacement item and transmits that item to the user's client device for display to the user. If the user selects the proposed replacement item, the online concierge system replaces the initial item with the proposed replacement item in the user's item list.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to automatic determination of a directed spend program eligibility for items offered by retailers associated with an online system. The online system provides inputs into a computer model, where the inputs include information about at least one property for each candidate item in a set of candidate items and at least one requirement for a directed spend program. The online system applies the computer model to generate, based on the inputs, an output that comprises an indication of an eligibility for each candidate item in the set for the at least one directed spend program. The online system sends a message causing a device of a user of the online system to display a user interface including an option for the user to add into a cart at least one of the candidate items determined to be eligible for the directed spend program.
