    Abstract: A wired drill string assembly, comprising a plurality of drill pipes extending from a surface into a wellbore. The plurality of drill pipes comprising a coaxial wired transmission line. The assembly comprising a downhole tool comprising a body having a first threaded connector and a second threaded connector, the first threaded connector being connected to one of the plurality of drill pipes. The downhole tool including one or more electrical components comprising a sensor coupled to the body and a signal transmitter configured to transmit a signal representing a measurement taken by the sensor. A first coaxial transmission line extending along the body and electrically connected to the coaxial wired transmission line and with the one or more electrical components. The first transmission line is electrically connected to the transmission wire by a first physical electrical contact on at least a portion of a first removable connector thread flank.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for cleaning an oil and gas well riser section or assembly. Even more particularly, the present invention relates to an improved method and apparatus for cleaning oil and gas well riser sections wherein a specially configured cap or pair of caps are fitted to the ends of the riser which enable pressure washing cleaning tools (or a camera) to be inserted into and through the riser cleaner fluid continuously recirculates so that relatively small volume of cleaning fluid (for example between about 700 and 1,000 gallons) is required. The cleaning process uses a volume of cleaning fluid that is discharged from the riser pipe at a relatively high temperature of about between 100 and 180° F. Such a high temperature cleaning fluid could possibly damage the pump that is used for supplying pressurized fluid to the cleaning tool. The present invention provides a method and apparatus for enabling continuous recirculation of fluid to the cleaning tool at a flow rate of between about 7 and 12 gallons per minute while lowering the temperature to about 60° F.

    Abstract: A drill pipe cleaning system is configured for cleaning external surfaces of sections of a drill pipe to remove earth, drilling mud, and other solid and/or liquid compounds while a drill pipe is being handled in a wellbore or on a drilling rig. The drill pipe cleaning system includes a cleaning ring provided with a ring opening, for receiving the drill pipe, and a number of cleaning belts arranged to engage with and scrape the outer surface of the drill pipe.
