摘要: A production system such as an inkjet printer system includes a plurality of communication distribution devices connected in a daisy chain arrangement. A plurality of secondary devices, such as printhead electronics boards for inkjet printheads, is connected to each of the communication distribution devices. A first communication distribution device which is connected to a system controller assigns a communication address to itself from a first set of communication address and assigns communication addresses to its connected secondary devices from a second set of communication addresses. It then communicates information to the next communication distribution device specifying the next available communication addresses. This process continues down the chain of communication distribution devices. The assigned communication addresses are then transmitted to the system controller. The assigned communication addresses enable the system controller to determine the relative physical locations of the communication distribution devices and secondary devices.

摘要: The effect of air resistance acting on ink drops discharged from nozzles of an ink-jet head is appropriately controlled, for example, by means of a method suitable for a breathable medium, such as a cloth and the like. In this way, for example, high-resolution printing, printing with a great gap distance, and the like is properly implemented. An ink-jet printer 10, for printing on a breathable medium 50 through which air passes from a printing surface to a rear surface, includes an ink-jet head 12 for discharging ink drops toward the medium 50, and a rear side component 14, having a hollow portion that opens its space toward the rear surface of the medium 50; and then ink-jet head 12 includes nozzles for discharging ink drops to the medium 50, and an airflow blowing section for blowing airflow, at least a part of the airflow going through a travel path of the ink drops, and the airflow moving toward the medium 50 together with the ink drops; and the rear side component 14 receives the airflow, passing through from the printing surface of the medium 50 to the rear surface of the same, with the hollow portion.

摘要: A method of printing an image with a continuous inkjet printer system employing a jetting module including a nozzle in fluid communication with a liquid ink source and a catcher including a liquid drop contact face; wherein the liquid ink is an aqueous inkjet black ink comprising a black colorant and at least one surfactant selected to provide a 10-ms dynamic surface tension of less than 54 mN/m. Full color images may be printed by further employing at least second, third and fourth jetting modules and yellow, magenta and cyan inks each also comprising a surfactant selected to provide a 10-ms dynamic surface tension of less than 54 mN/m for each ink. The ink compositions provide for fluid properties on the drop catcher face that minimize printing defects that can occur during drop deflection during the printing of high dynamic range images at high speed.

摘要: A method and droplet selection device are provided for a continuous printer for selectively deflecting a droplet from a predetermined printing trajectory. In particular, a droplet selection device is provided for a continuous printer, comprising a droplet ejection system arranged to generate a continuous stream of droplets from a first fluid jetted out of an outlet channel; and a jet system arranged to generate a second jet for colliding the jet into the stream of droplets. The jet system comprises a deflector to selectively deflect the second jet into the continuous stream of droplets, so as to selectively deflect the droplets from a predefined printing trajectory.

摘要: A method and apparatus for forming high-speed water droplets takes advantage on a synergy of features disclosed by the present invention including a low Weber number in a chamber in which a liquid stream breaks up into droplets; a reduced break up distance for forming the water droplets by introducing turbulence into the liquid source, thereby providing a unit or tool that is of practical size; accomplishing the generation of high-speed water droplets without using a complex driver; reducing the liquid's surface tension thereby facilitating the creating of near spherical droplets; and maintaining the droplets in form until they strike the surface of a workpiece.

摘要: A continuous ink jet printer emits a continuous stream of ink from an ink stream generator. The stream breaks up into a plurality of droplets at a position spaced from the ink stream generator. A stream deflector includs a control surface positioned adjacent to the stream between the ink stream generator and the position whereat the stream breaks up into droplets such that the stream contacts the control surface and is thereby deflected due to a gain in free energy caused by physical contact between the ink in the stream and the control surface. Apparatus may be provided to modulate the position of the control surface to change the direction of the stream between a print direction and a non-print direction.

摘要: A method and apparatus for accurately determining and setting the optimal nozzle drive voltage for an ink jet printer. The current carried by charged test drops is monitored by a sensing electrode and ammeter while the nozzle drive voltage is slowly varied between minimum and maximum points. A plot of drop current versus nozzle drive voltage provides an accurate determination of the good printing window for the particular nozzle under the operating conditions presented. This arrangement can be used for calibrating a new nozzle in an existing printer or for calibrating a new ink or font to ensure that operation will occur within the desired print window.
