摘要: Upper and lower wire guides in a wire-cut electric discharge machine are moved until a wire electrode contacts with a workpiece, and after the contact, the upper and lower wire guides are moved backward to a position A which is away from the contact point at a fixed distance. Then, the upper wire guide is moved until the wire electrode contacts with the workpiece and the upper wire guide is returned to the position A. Subsequently, the lower wire guide is moved until the wire electrode contacts with the workpiece and the lower wide guide is returned to the position A. A coordinate value on the position where the wire electrode contacts with the workpiece is calculated by using position detection values which are obtained in the above respective steps, and board thickness is calculated from the coordinate value.

摘要: A process for creating porous anode foil for use in an electrolytic capacitor of an implantable cardioverter defibrillator is provided. The process includes electrochemical drilling a plurality of etched metal foils in sequence one after the other in a bath containing electrochemical drilling (ECD) solution initially having a pH of less than 5. Alternatively, an etched foil sheet may be passed through the bath in a substantially continuous manner such that a portion of said etched foil sheet is in contact with the ECD solution is electrochemically drilled to generate pores. Electrochemical drilling is achieved when a current is passed to the foil or portion of the foil sheet in solution, ECD replenishment solution having a pH of less than about 5 is added from a feed reservoir to the bath at such a rate so as to maintain a pH in the ECD solution in the bath of less than about 5, and ECD solution in the bath is removed to a waste reservoir at the substantially the same rate as the addition of the ECD replenishment solution to the bath.

摘要: In a wire electrical discharge machining apparatus, an upper main-discharge power supply is connected between an upper conducting terminal and a workpiece using an upper main-feeder line capable of configuring outward and homeward paths, and a lower main-discharge power supply is connected between a lower conducting terminal and the workpiece using a lower main-feeder line capable of configuring outward and homeward paths. Moreover, a sub-discharge power supply is connected between the upper conducting terminal and the workpiece and between the lower conducting terminal and the workpiece using an upper and a lower sub-feeder lines that have higher impedances than the impedances of the upper and the lower main-feeder lines and can configure outward and homeward paths.

摘要: A self-adjusting power device for high efficiency electrical discharge machining and method thereof is disclosed. A high-voltage arc unit and a low-voltage discharge unit provide a high voltage arc pulse and a low voltage discharge pulse to an electrode respectively. The electrode machines a workpiece and feeds back a gap voltage to a discharge pulse generation unit. The discharge pulse generation unit determines whether the gap voltage is lower than a predetermined voltage or not. If yes, a discharge channel between the electrode and the workpiece is conducted, and the discharge pulse generation unit shuts down the high-voltage arc unit and the low-voltage discharge unit is still operating at ON time and shuts down at OFF time. If no, looping the determination of the discharge pulse generation unit. Therefore, discharge machining energy is accurately controlled and high efficient power saving is achieved.

摘要: A wire electric discharge machining apparatus includes guide rollers and a single electrode wire that is wrapped around each of the guide rollers to form cut wire portions that are spaced from one another between pairs of the guide rollers. A processing power supply feeds electric power to the individual cut wire portions through a power feed element. A high frequency insulator includes wound coils of the electrode wire that are located between adjacent cut wire portions, and cores which close respective magnetic circuits of the individual coils. The magnetic circuits are magnetically insulated from one another. The power feed element is arranged between the individual cut wire portions and the individual coils, and the individual cut wire portions are insulated from one another at high frequencies by the individual coils. Voltages are impressed on the individual cut wire portions independently, so discharges can be generated simultaneously, in parallel.

摘要: A method and a device is disclosed capable of reliably creating micro apertures as small as 0.0005 inches in diameter at depths of ten times or more the diameter of the wire. The device is comprised of a wire, fitted to a temperature-controlled holder that is further controlled by a cam or similar device to cycle the wire for creating the apertures at a predetermined position and orientation and a second component supporting a workpiece in which the apertures are to be created. The method involves cycling the wire into, through, and out of the workpiece. The cycle begins with the positioning of the wire and the workpiece. As the cam turns, the wire moves toward the workpiece, into and through the workpiece, and then is drawn out to return to its original position. The length of the cycle and the temperature of the wire are critical to providing a hole that is consistent, not tapered, and without residue.

摘要: An electropolishing device for polishing a cylindrical medical device such as a stent includes anodes in the form of rollers arranged to contact an exterior surface of the device. A drive mechanism rotates the anodes periodically during the electropolishing process to change a contact point between the anodes and the medical device. A tilting mechanism can also be used for periodically tilting the anodes during the electropolishing process to allow bubbles to escape from one end of the stent.
