Abstract:
Disclosed is an image color management system and method for controlling an image output device. The method for controlling the image output device comprises generating an image output device profile LUT (look-up-table) characterizing the color profile of the image output device for a plurality of drift states associated with the image output device; generating a set of basis vectors representing the LUT; storing the set of basis vectors in an image output device controller; and generating an image output device active profile associated with a current drift state of the image output device to convert image color data for display or printing by the image output device, wherein the image output device active profile is generated from the set of basis vectors.
Abstract:
A method for adjusting color tones of an input digital image file to create an adjusted digital image file. A plurality of predetermined curves are provided, each curve specifying an adjusted color tone percentage output as a function of input color tone percentage and representing a combination of midpoint magnitude and contrast different than for any other curve. The method comprises selecting a curve by determining which one of the plurality of curves most closely matches at least two data points. The selected curve is then applied to the input digital image file to produce the adjusted digital image file.
Abstract:
A document type discriminating apparatus is provided in which discrimination as to whether or not a document is a duplicate is made with high degree of accuracy. The document type discriminating apparatus includes means for discriminating whether a type of a screen pattern used in an image captured by reading a document is a line screen, means for detecting whether a value indicating a change in a period of the screen used in the image exceeds a predetermined value, means for detecting whether a value indicating sharpness of an edge seen in the image is lower than a predetermined value, means for detecting whether a value indicating a blur in an edge color seen in the image exceeds a predetermined value, and means for discriminating that the document is a duplicate when at least two out of the four detection results mentioned above are true.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes a measuring part to measure an area in which a recording agent is to be adhered on a recording medium, for each of segmented regions on the recording medium, a computing part to compute an accumulated area by accumulating the measured area for each segmented region with respect to plural recording media, and a storing part to store the computed accumulated area. A rotating part rotates an image to be formed on the recording medium using the recording agent if the accumulated value in the storing part exceeds a threshold value, and an image forming part forms the rotated image on the recording medium.
Abstract:
A controller of a scanning apparatus is used for controlling vertical compensation of the scanned document. The controller includes a vertical compensation circuit. By compensating the image data in the vertical direction, the scanning performance is enhanced.
Abstract:
A full width array CCD sensor is incorporated in the media path to monitor fused pages by calculating area coverage from multiple engines in a Tightly Integrated Parallel Process (TIPP) architecture. With knowledge of the area coverage differences between print engines for a given pixel count to the ROS, a relative density difference of each engine is determined. Based on the determined relative density difference, an adjustment is calculated and applied to the engine with the largest error to match the area coverage(s) of the other engine(s).
Abstract:
An image forming device and a controlling method thereof, in which the image forming device includes: a customer replaceable unit memory (CRUM) associated with a recording material storage medium to store a color conversion table group including a color conversion table that corresponds to status information of the image forming device, and a controller to determine current status information of the image forming device, to read a target color conversion table from among the color conversion table group according to the determined current status information, and to apply the target color conversion table to perform a printing operation on a document. Therefore, an optimum print quality can be guaranteed according to the determined current status of the image forming device.
Abstract:
An image scanning apparatus and method are provided in which shading data of the image scanning apparatus is acquired when manufacturing the image scanning apparatus, which is when a white reference or the shading data is cleanest. An original document is scanned using the shading data acquired when manufacturing the image scanning apparatus and shading data of non-contaminated regions of a white reference or shading reference, thereby eliminating distortion such as white lines in an image caused by pollutants stuck to the shading reference or the white reference and improving the performance of the image scanning apparatus. The apparatus and method includes acquiring the shading data when manufacturing the image scanning apparatus and storing the shading data in a memory, and comparing the shading data acquired when manufacturing the image scanning apparatus with shading data acquired when using the image scanning apparatus and, based on the result of the comparison, processing the image of the original document.
Abstract:
A method for calibrating a first image processing apparatus at a first location with a control image processing apparatus at a second location. The method comprises obtaining a plurality of individual exposure levels and plotting them against time creating a deviation history and comparing it to the operating specification for the control image processing apparatus. If the deviation history is within the operating specification, initiate a calibration, if not adjust the exposure levels and then initiate calibration. The calibration comprises preparing a calibration curve of exposure level versus density for a plurality of shipped thermal donors; computing an exposure modification curve by comparing a control thermal receiver to the shipped thermal receivers; transmitting the calibration and then the exposure modification curve to the first image processing apparatus; and adjusting the first image processing apparatus exposure levels to conform to the calibration curve and the exposure modification curve.
