    Abstract: An integrating photometer for measuring total exposures to ultraviolet radiation. The circuit for the photometer includes a threshold limiter to suppress operation of the integrator until the illumination level exceeds a predetermined threshold. A power saving circuit turns the photometer off when no illumination is received during a predetermined time interval.

    Abstract: The following steps are performed in connection with a photodiode circuit: a) resetting the photodiode circuit; b) determining when a photodiode voltage changes in response to illumination to reach a threshold; and c) updating a counter in response to the determination in step b). The steps a) to c) are repeated until an end of a measurement period is reached. The value of the counter at the end of the measurement period is then output to indicate an intensity of the illumination.

    Abstract: The invention relates to measuring illuminating power of light incident on a light sensor without an outside power supply. The light is converted conventionally to a pulse train, the frequency of which varies as the illuminating power. During conversion the incident light illuminates a series connection (2) of a plurality of photo diodes, which thus generate a current. This is utilized as a power source for the converter and also as electrical input quantity for the conversion itself. The pulse train generated by the converter comprises light pulses, the frequency of which is detected at the converter or at the other end of an optical fibre (7) coupled to it.
