Abstract: A constant velocityjoint vent for use in a constant velocityjoint of automotive vehicles. The constant velocity joint vent includes a flapper valve generally having a circular shape. The constant velocityjoint vent also includes a first and second assembly post extending from an inside surface of the flapper valve. A circumferential compression limiter is also located on an inside surface of the flapper valve. The flapper valve also includes a sealing bead located at the outer periphery thereof. The flapper valve is connected via the first and second assembly post to a cover that includes an orifice for venting of high pressure gas to the outer atmosphere while also repelling contaminants from entering the constant velocity joint.

Abstract: A constant velocity universal joint for use with a propeller shaft which reduces its weight and size as well as facilitates assembling a stub shaft, thereby reducing the number of parts used and improving rotational balance. The universal joint, comprising: an outer ring with a cup-shaped enlarged diameter portion having track grooves formed on an inner peripheral surface and with a hollow reduced diameter portion integrated with the enlarged diameter portion; an inner ring having track grooves formed on an outer peripheral surface; balls, interposed between the track grooves of the inner and outer rings, for transmitting torque; a cage, accommodated in an annular space between the inner and outer rings, for holding the balls. The universal joint makes possible to form a unit provided with a stub shaft, having a shaft portion inserted from an open end portion of the enlarged diameter portion of the outer ring to mate with the inner ring to enable torque transmission and having an enlarged diameter portion on an end portion extending from the shaft portion, and provided with a boot, attached to the open end portion of the enlarged diameter portion of the outer ring and the shaft portion of the stub shaft, for sealing the joint.

Abstract: A constant velocity universal joint has an outer part (1) with outer tracks (3), and an inner part (6) with inner tracks (10) which, together, each receive one of a plurality of balls (13). The ball is guided by a cage (14). The cage is guided on a guiding face (9) of the inner part (6) by a spherical guiding face (16). The outer part (1) is closed towards one side by a first attaching part (5). The other side is closed by a sealing boot (20) which is secured to the outer part (1) on the one hand and to a second attaching element (12) on the other hand. The second attaching element (12) is connected to the inner part (6) so as to be rotationally fixed. The inner part (6) is held and centered relative to the outer part (1) by the balls (13) and the cage (14) on the one hand and by a control element (18) arranged between the outer part (1) and the inner part (6) on the other hand. To permit lubricant to be stored specifically in the region of the two guiding faces 9, 16 which are in contact with one another, there is provided a sealing cap (21) which at least partially covers the outer cage face and a sealing face (13) associated therewith. As this method achieves improved lubrication conditions, it is possible to use simpler lubricants as well, such as those used in rolling contact bearings.

Abstract: A cross-groove type homokinetic joint which requires no boot adaptor and is thus less expensive and which is provided with an arrangement for preventing the balls from dropping out while keeping a large working angle of the shaft. The cross-grooved homokinetic joint has an inner ring having grooves in its outer surface, balls received in the grooves of the inner ring, a cage retaining the balls, and an outer ring having grooves in its inner surface. The balls are guided by the grooves of the outer ring. This joint has no boot adaptor. The boot is directly fixed to the outer ring.
