摘要: A nematic liquid crystal composition according to the invention is used for a liquid crystal display element for an active matrix drive for TV applications or the like for which a high speed and a wide viewing angle are required. The liquid crystal composition has a negative dielectric anisotropy having a large absolute value and also has a sufficiently low viscosity. Therefore, the liquid crystal composition has excellent characteristic properties, that is, a high speed response, good display quality and a suppressed display defect, and is therefore suitable as a practical liquid crystal composition. Further, a liquid crystal display element produced using the liquid crystal composition can be used favorably as a liquid crystal display element of a VA type or the like.

摘要: The present invention relates to a liquid-crystalline medium based on a mixture of polar compounds having negative dielectric anisotropy (Δε), which is distinguished by the fact that it has a value for the ratio γ1/Δn2 in the range 6-45 with a clearing point of >60° C. and a Δε of ≦−2.3. Media of this type are particularly suitable for electro-optical displays having active-matrix addressing based on the ECB, PA LCD, FFS or IPS effect.

摘要: There is provided a liquid crystal composition which enables a significant reduction in crystallization temperature as compared with addition of a homolog while having a similar skeleton structure, which has an excellent compatibility, and which enables an increase in the absolute value of negative dielectric anisotropy (Δ∈). The liquid crystal composition contains two or more compounds which each have two to four ring structures between two side chains. At least one of the ring structures is a 2,3-difluorobenzene skeleton. The two side chains are bonded to different ring structures. The positions of the 2,3-difluorobenzene skeletons are different from each other, and the number of the ring structures are the same as each other.

摘要: There is provided a liquid crystal composition that exhibits a sufficiently low viscosity (η), a sufficiently low rotational viscosity (γ1), and a large elastic modulus (K33) without decreasing the refractive index anisotropy (Δn) and the nematic phase-isotropic liquid phase transition temperature (Tni) and without increasing the solid phase-nematic phase transition temperature (Tcn). The liquid crystal display element that uses this liquid crystal composition satisfactorily obtains a pretilt angle and has a high voltage holding ratio (VHR) and high-speed response. Thus, a liquid crystal display element that has no or less alignment defects and display defects such as image sticking, and has high display quality and high response speed is obtained.

摘要: The present invention provides a novel liquid crystal material composition comprising one or more compound, in order to achieve the properties of low viscosity, high resistivity, good low-temperature mutual solubility, fast response, excellent transmission, and which can be used for a variety of fast response display modes. Since the working temperature of a LCD material is subjected to the temperature range of individual LC molecules, information can only be displayed in a specific temperature range of the specific liquid crystal macro-alignment phase. At low temperature, the viscosity of liquid crystal increases exponentially, which in turn substantially reduces the response speed and overall performances of the display system. The liquid crystal composition according to the present invention overcomes these problems with balanced chemical composition by achieving low viscosity, good low-temperature performance and excellent transmission in a wide range of LCD applications including TN, IPS or FFS displays, thus improving display performance.

摘要: There is provided a liquid crystal composition having the following properties without suffering reductions in refractive index anisotropy (Δn) and nematic phase-isotropic liquid phase transition temperature (Tm): sufficiently low viscosity (η), sufficiently low rotational viscosity (γ1), a large elastic constant (K33), and a negative dielectric anisotropy (Δ∈) with a large absolute value. There is also provided a liquid crystal display device of, for example, a VA type that uses such a liquid crystal composition and that has a high response speed and excellent display quality with defective display being eliminated or reduced. In particular, a liquid crystal composition having a negative dielectric anisotropy is provided, the composition containing a first component that is at least one compound represented by General Formula (i) and a second component that is at least one compound selected from compounds represented by General Formula (L).

摘要: In a process for the purification of a liquid-crystal mixture (7), the liquid-crystal mixture (7) is passed through a first electrodialysis cell (2) and a concentrate solution (14) is passed through a second electrodialysis cell (8) which is adjacent to the first electrodialysis cell (2) and is separated by an ion-exchanger membrane (9), and an electric field transverse to a direction of passage of the liquid-crystal mixture (7) through the first electrodialysis cell (2) is generated with the aid of an anode/cathode arrangement (15, 16) arranged outside the electrodialysis cells (2, 8) so that ionized constituents of the liquid-crystal mixture (7) are discharged at the ion-exchanger membrane (9) and removed from the liquid-crystal mixture (7).

The composition contains a specific compound having at least one polymerizable group, and a liquid crystal display device includes the composition. The composition may contain a specific compound having large negative dielectric anisotropy as a first component, and a specific compound having a high maximum temperature or small viscosity as a second component.
