Abstract:
Methods and apparatus describing a convenience beverage vending machine and its operation are described. An embedded computer interface allows consumers to create their own drinks or choose from a menu of drinks. Drinks are dispensed in a container. The beverages may be made from hot water, cold water or carbonated water that is mixed with various flavors of syrup, sweeteners and nutritional supplements. Identification may be presented and the computer recognizes the consumer and pulls up that consumer's account to determine funds available and previous drink selections and mixtures. The machine may incorporate an automatic cleaning cycle for both the valves and the dispense area.

The present application describes a product dispenser. The product dispenser may include at least one macro-ingredient source, at least one micro-ingredient source positioned about the dispenser, a diluent source, a dispensing valve, a number of pumps or metering devices, and a user interface. The user interface receives a request for a product type and instructs the pumps or metering devices to dispense a predetermined type and ratio of macro-ingredients, micro-ingredients, and diluent to the dispensing valve for a predetermined flow rate.

The present invention presents a solenoid valve (1) having a water inlet (3) and two water outlets (4, 5) arranged within a plane. One of the water outlets (5) can be operated by an actuator to be selectively opened or closed. The present invention further presents a beverage dispensing device (10) with a plurality of the solenoid valves (1). Each solenoid valve 1 introduces water into one of a plurality of mixing chambers (13) of the device (10). The present invention allows for an optimized positioning of the solenoid valves (1)inside the beverage dispensing device (10).

A beverage dispensing system includes a nozzle body with a plurality of ingredient inlets and a water inlet disposed in the nozzle body. A diffuser is connected to the nozzle body and has floor with a plurality of holes therethrough. A nozzle cap is connected to the diffuser and has an outlet. A first mixing chamber is formed between the ingredient inlets and the diffuser floor, and a second mixing chamber is formed between the diffuser and the outlet, with the second mixing chamber being configured to receive fluid from the first mixing chamber via the holes in the diffuser floor. A first water flow path is situated between the water inlet and the first mixing chamber, and a second water flow path is situated between the water inlet and the second mixing chamber, wherein the second water flow path bypasses the first mixing chamber.

A device for dispensing individual servings of a cold beverage, either having a refrigeration unit to chill the beverage or a removable pitcher that may be put in a refrigerator. A special disposable beverage cartridge or beverage pouch fits into the holder. This cartridge or pouch may have pressure rupturable seals or diaphragms and contain beverage concentrate. A dispensing mechanism puts pressure on the cartridge or the pouch to break the pressure rupturable seal or diaphragm to discharge the concentrate into a mixing structure. The mixing structure also receives chilled liquid from the refrigeration unit or the pitcher, and ensures that the concentrate mixes with the liquid without contacting the walls of the mixing structure.

In particular, the valve dispensing system has individual valve module components that control the flow of a beverage or beverage component, and a plurality of valve module components may be combined to form a system capable of dispensing a plurality of beverages and/or beverage components.

A mounting assembly includes a beverage mounting assembly having a housing. The housing has a housing wall that surrounds a cavity. A valve body is connectable to the beverage mounting assembly. The valve body is connectable to the beverage mounting assembly via a clip. The clip is insertable into both the housing and the valve body to connect the valve body to the beverage mounting assembly. At least one actuator is disposed in the cavity of the housing. The actuator rotates from a closed position to an open position that actuates pressure to the valve body from a liquid source. The actuator is separate from the clip that connects the housing to the valve body.

A beer dispensing device comprises a fitment (7) for fitting to the tap (9), a sensor (24) for sensing the quantity of beer dispensed from the tap (9) on turning on of the tap, a pivot lever (4) and arm (1) for engaging the tap (9), and an electronic control box (3) for causing the pivot lever (4) to be rotated under spring (28) action to turn off the tap (9) in response to an indication from the sensor (24) that the required quantity of beer has been dispensed from the tap (9). Such a device is particularly applicable to the dispensing of beer at a public bar as it allows substantially hands free operation after the bartender has initiated dispensing by opening of the tap, and therefore allows more flexible and faster service through multi-tasking by the bartender.

A post-mix beverage dispenser includes a jet, in fluid communication with a source of non-carbonated diluent, extending into a mixing chamber of the dispenser. The jet includes an aperture, typically in a sidewall thereof, configured to spray the diluent towards the wall of the mixing chamber. A diffuser is disposed below the jet. The diffuser may be in fluid communication with a concentrate dispensing outlet so as to emit concentrate into the mixing chamber. The diluent and concentrate collide in the mixing chamber to create a frothed beverage.

A device for dispensing fluid foodstuffs, particularly for automatic or semiautomatic hot or cold beverage vending machines, comprising a hollow body inside which there is a chamber connected to an intake which is connected to a duct for introducing a fluid to be dispensed and to an outlet which is connected to a fluid dispensing duct. A flow control element connected to actuation means is arranged in the chamber and can move on command, through the action of the actuation means, in order to interrupt the connection between the intake and the outlet. The flow control element is arranged proximate to the intake and can move on command in order to open or close the intake.
