    摘要： A storage means and transportation method for at least one (1) motorcycle is herein disclosed, comprising a platform plate supported at corner locations by rotating casters. A vertical edging is provided along the long edges of the platform to prevent the motorcycle from rolling off. At least one (1) handles is provided along the long edge to aid in manipulating each motorcycle along a floor surface for shipping or storage. At each end portion of the platform are fold-down ramps to allow each motorcycle to be rolled on and off of the platform. Each ramp comprises a support to anchor the platform against the floor surface by lifting the casters slightly off of the floor. Once the platform is secured in this fashion, each motorcycle can be rolled on and off the platform safely. Each motorcycle is covered by a fiberglass hard cover which is attached thereto the platform for long-term storage and/or shipment.

Locking collars (90) are slidably received on the posts (48) and move between a locking position and a pivoting position. The locking collars hold the end frame assemblies (14, 16) in a set-up position extending substantially perpendicularly from the base frame (12) and a pivoted position with the end frame assemblies folded down towards the base frame. Side diagonals (58) connect between pivot brackets (52) and the posts (48) in the end frame assemblies (14, 16). The locking collars (90) and side members (58) hold the end frame assemblies (14, 16) in the set-up configuration for shipment of the heavy durable good. The locking collars (90) being moved to the second position allow the end frame assemblies (14, 16) to pivot to the knock-down configuration with the side members (58) being pivotally crossed across the base frame (12) for return shipment of the crate (10).

A front end cap is secured to the top of the platform at the front end, and a center piece is secured to the top of the platform at a predefined fixed distance between the front end cap and the first fork pocket. A plurality of corrugations are formed optionally on the first fork pocket and the second fork pocket, and are formed optionally on the first top panel and the second top panel. Two or more rear end caps are secured to the top of the platform at the rear end. A method for making the skid uses a single flat sheet of material to form the platform, or alternatively, to form two or more portions of the platform that are joined along one or more seams. A method for recycling the skid receives the skid and either reuses, refurbishes, or recycles its component parts depending on the skid's condition.

    摘要： A portable protective enclosure for small vehicles comprises a plurality of individual planar panel members including a base panel, a roof panel, a front panel, a rear panel, a left side panel, and a right side panel and mutually engaging attachment devices for releasably joining the individual panel members into an integrated assembled structure. The base panel and the roof panel lie in parallel spaced apart planes, likewise the front panel and the rear panel, and the left side panel and the right side panel, and all serve for selectively enveloping a small vehicle therein. Both the roof panel and the base panel include a continuous attachment groove spaced from their peripheral edges in what is to become their interior surfaces. Each of the front panel, the rear panel, the left side panel and the right side panel includes an upper edge and a lower edge and a projecting tongue extending the length of the upper and lower edges and each of the projecting tongues is engaged with an associated one of the attachment grooves when the panels form the integrated assembled structure. Additionally, the left side and right side panels each has a pair of upright slots spaced from their upright terminal and the upright edges of the front and rear panels are engaged with those upright slots, respectively, when the panels comprise said integrated assembled structure. Structure and devices internal to the system are provided for securing the small vehicle inside the portable protective enclosure.

A pair of longitudinally extending channel members are secured to the base and define cavities for receiving lifting forks associated with a lift truck. A number of transversely extending cross members are secured to the channel members and/or the base. A first support tray is fixed to the base between the channel members and two cross member for receiving and retaining a front wheel associated with a motorcycle. A second support tray is fixed to the base between the channel members and two different cross members. A chock is positioned within the second support tray to support a back wheel of the motorcycle. The chock can be repositioned within the second support tray to accommodate motorcycles having different wheelbases. The components of the skid are formed from light weight rolled steel to resist corrosion and to reduce weight compared to a comparable wooden skid.

    摘要： A shipping container for preassembled motorcycles comprises a stepped grid-shaped support structure in the form of a frame-shaped base which resists the flexural forces acting on it when the motorcycle is lashed to the base. The motorcycle can be suitably attached lengthwise in a guide for the rear wheel, by a continuously adjustable wedge element mounted lengthwise on a rolling base on the center of the frame base. When the surface of the wedge is arranged opposite to the direction in which the motorcycle in to be introduced into the shipping container, the rear wedge element can be fitted into a recess on the frame-shaped base to form an entry and exit ramp for the motorcycle, which can be unloaded smoothly from the rolling base of the shipping container to the roadway, which is at a different height. The container is re-usable and can be readily assembled and dismantled. In a preferred embodiment, the frame-shaped base has a box-like casing formed by four detachable walls detachably secured to the base. The container has no other loose parts.
