摘要： A lighted vehicle access apparatus and method are disclosed, wherein one or more lights coupled to a movable platform are positioned to illuminate the platform. In some embodiments, the lights are in a fixed position with respect to the platform (and therefore movable with respect to the vehicle), while in other embodiments, the lights are movable with respect to the platform in movement of the platform between stowed and deployed positions and/or between raised and lowered positions with respect to the vehicle. The lights can be coupled to one or more arm assemblies of the vehicle access apparatus, to one or more handles of the vehicle access apparatus, or in other locations. Also, the lights can be electroluminescent light elements, bulbs, or other types of light-emitting devices.

The wheelchair lift further has a pivotable linkage assembly for facilitating the unfolding of the platform assembly as the platform assembly moves from the swing-down deployment motion (from the stowed position to the entry level position) to unfold the two plates into a substantially horizontal position and coplanar to each other at the entry position and between the entry position and the ground position, and also for the folding of the platform assembly as the platform moves during the swing-up stowaway motion (from the entry level position to the stowed position).

摘要： A dual function, inboard barrier/bridgeplate assembly for wheelchair lifts having a stowable platform, the barrier being pivotably secured to the inboard end of the lift platform, which barrier is actuated by a link to variously raise the barrier to a safety position and lower it to a bridging position in accordance with the position of the platform. The dual function barrier/bridgeplate system is particularly useful in combination with a parallelogram type lift employing an articulated lever assembly having a sliding block for leveraging the platform from a horizontal transfer orientation to a vertical, or over-vertical stowage position. There is disclosed a barrier assembly in which a spring assist system comprising a gas spring acting on one member of the articulated lever assembly and a lever arm linking a second arm of the articulated lever assembly to the barrier co-operate to actuate the barrier from a raised position when the platform is away from the transfer level and a lowered position to act as a bridge plate at the transfer level. A telescoping push arm is included which actuates the barrier by means of a pivoted link which rotates the barrier in response to the telescoping motion of the push arm. A safety interlock and load detecting system may be employed to prevent the platform from moving to the stowed position when a load greater than a predetermined weight is on the platform. An anti-free fall mechanism is disclosed comprising a pin in the slide block which engages mating slots in the telescoping push arm members to lock their length during the initial stage of deploy of the platform downwardly from the vertical stowed position.

摘要： The present invention provides a robust, highly stable and vertically compact when folded-up wheelchair lift suitable for placement on a variety of vehicles such as vans and mini-vans. The lift has an elongate horizontal support member that is pivotally attached to a post fixed to the undercarriage of a vehicle. The horizontal support member supports the lifting mechanism and the wheelchair platform and is powered to swing the platform and lifting mechanism between a use position and a storage position. The lifting mechanism uses a pair of connecting links spaced lengthwise on the support member and connecting to the wheelchair platform in a four bar linkage arrangement generally in the form of a parallelogram. Both connecting links are rotated by bell cranks both of which are powered by the same hydraulic cylinder.

摘要： A vehicle having accommodations for a wheelchair includes an upper floor panel disposed within the vehicle and having a lowerable portion thereof adapted to support a wheelchair, and a lift mechanism mounted below the upper floor panel for lowering and raising the lowerable portion with respect to the upper floor panel. The lift mechanism comprises threaded holes on a protruding part of the lowerable panel. The threaded holes are engaged by a plurality of jack screws. The jack screws can be driven by a motor, sprocket and chain drive system. These accommodations allow a person in the wheelchair to be lowered to a level where they can comfortably see out the windows of the vehicle.

摘要： A movable ramp assembly is provided that can be securely stored and safely and reliably operated. The ramp assembly includes a platform that is conveniently stored to travel with a vehicle and deployed in a motion pattern to allow the passage of passengers across the platform into and out of the vehicle. The motion pattern includes an upwardly inclined motion and a downwardly inclined motion which together accommodate most uneven terrain on which the vehicle may be parked. In the disclosed embodiment, the motion pattern of the platform is faciliated by cam guides formed within side beams of a mounting structure and cam followers provided on bracket arms supporting the platform at one end. As the cam followers follow the cam guides, the platform is pitched upwardly at an incline and then downwardly at an incline when the platform is deployed from storage. As part of the top panel of the mounting structure, a hinged panel is provided, having multiple functions. In the disclosed embodiment, the hinged panel is substantially horizontal when the platform is stored so as to serve as part of the operating passenger floor with the top panel. When the platform is deployed; however, the hinged panel is inclined downwardly to abut a threshold section of the platform at its free end, thereby bridging the platform and the top panel to form an extended ramp surface.

The extensible assembly comprises a pair of parallel fixed sleeve members and a pair of parallel slide members telescopically attached between the frame and the support portion. A hydraulic cylinder controllably extends and retracts the slide members within the sleeve members.
