Providing passive bandwidth estimation of a wireless link in a transmission control protocol (TCP) slow start state

    Abstract: A device establishes a wireless link with a user device via a network and selects a time period for a slow start state of the wireless link. The device enters the slow start state after selecting the time period and repeatedly provides a quantity of packets over consecutive time periods to the user device. The device determines a delivery rate for each time period, of the consecutive time periods, based on the quantity of packets provided each time period and determines a maximum delivery rate for the delivery rates of the consecutive time periods. The device determines that the wireless link is at a maximum capacity when a current delivery rate satisfies a threshold rate, based on the maximum delivery rate, after a threshold time period of the consecutive time periods and exits the slow start state based on the wireless link being at the maximum capacity.

    Abstract: Network devices receive configuration settings for a portable data account with a service provider. The portable data account provides for mobile data over a broadband cellular network. The network devices receive, via a mobile device, user credentials, for a user, to activate a portable data service for the mobile device. The network devices determine that the user credentials correspond to the portable data account, the portable data account being different than a default account associated with the mobile device. The network devices map a temporary mobile directory number (MDN), which is associated with the portable data account, to a unique identifier for the mobile device, and enforce the configuration settings for a portable data session, associated with the temporary MDN, for the portable data account. The network devices log mobile data, used by the mobile device, for the portable data session and create a billing record for the portable data session, the billing record being based on the logging and associated with the portable data account.

    Abstract: Techniques described herein may be used to enable a user to obtain services from multiple organizations in a seamless, automated, and efficient manner. A network device may cause a user device to automatically access a web service by, for example, downloading a mobile application or accessing a web page designed to provide the web service. The network device may automatically identify a second web service that is logically related to the first web service and offer the second web service to the user. If the user accepts the second web service, the network device may cause the user device to automatically access the second web service via a mobile application, a webpage, etc. Identification and authentication issues for accessing the first or second web services may be automatically resolved by network device based on the mobile device number (MDN) of the user device and/or other profile information.

    Abstract: A network device receives first signaling from a first parent device that assigns a first task for completion by a first child, and includes a first task allotment designated by the parent for the first child's completion of the first task. The network device receives second signaling, from a first child device, indicating that the first child has completed the first task. The network device sends third signaling to the first parent device requesting approval of the completion of the first task, and receives, responsive to the third signaling, an indicator of an approval, or a rejection, from the first parent device.
