Abstract:
For monitoring a combustion process in an internal combustion engine wherein a fuel-air mixture is ignited with a high-frequency plasma it is provided to determine the impedance of the plasma. A high-frequency signal is applied to the resonator with a capacity that is so low that no arcing-over forms on the electrodes and the high-frequency current and the high-frequency voltage are measured. The impedance of the ignited mixture is determined from the high-frequency current and the high-frequency voltage.
Abstract:
A vibration damper with amplitude-selective damping force includes a cylinder containing a damping medium, a piston rod which is axially movable in the cylinder, and a piston assembly arranged for axial movement in the damping medium, the piston assembly being connected to the piston rod and dividing the cylinder into a working space around the piston rod and a working space opposite the piston rod, the piston assembly includes a piston body having connecting channels for opposite directions of flow between the working spaces, and valve disks which open the channels in respective opposite directions. A pilot assembly includes an axially movable shifting ring which controls a flow connection between the working spaces as a function of movement of the piston rod, and a pair of stop surfaces which limit axial movement of the shifting ring, wherein the stop surfaces are independent of the piston body and the valve disks.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for enhancing user experience in a VOD system by providing a facility to remotely control a client device is disclosed. In one exemplary embodiment, a method to synchronize in-band and out-of-band settings of the client device is provided. In another embodiment, a method to perform synchronization of content catalogue on the client device with network-side counterpart with minimal burden on network bandwidth is provided.
Abstract:
To clean the exhaust gas of internal-combustion engines or other machines which are operated with fossil fuel, it is proposed to firstly pretreat the exhaust gas in a non-thermal normal-pressure gas discharge and subsequently allow a selective catalytic reduction of oxidic noxious substances to take place with the addition of a suitable reduction substance, or to allow a selective catalytic decomposition to take place. The device for removing the oxidic noxious substances is characterized by a series circuit of at least one module with a gas discharge section and at least one module with a catalytic-converter section, and is suitable in particular for use in a diesel engine.
Abstract:
Method for the production of sintered dolomite, wherein at least carbonate material is ground into particles, formed into a predetermined shape, such as briquettes, deacidified and then heated to a predetermined temperature.
Abstract:
Apparatus for simultaneously winding several webs of developed photographic paper on the cores of reels whose flanges rest on pairs of supporting rollers one of which is driven by a discrete variable-speed motor has a loop former for each web. Each loop former adjusts a potentiometer in dependency on changes of tensional stress upon the corresponding web, and the potentiometers cause control circuits for the corresponding motors to reduce the speed of the driven supporting rollers as the diameters of convoluted portions of the webs increase. The webs are fed at a constant speed. The supporting rollers consist of rubber to reduce the noise as a result of contact with the flanges of the respective reels, and to reduce the likelihood of slippage of the reels.
Abstract:
A gas turbine arrangement, a power plant having such a gas turbine arrangement and a method for operating the power plant are provided. A compressor may be mechanically coupled to a turbine which can be driven by combustion gases, such as can be generated by combustion of fuel with the compressed combustion air. An exhaust system may be used to discharge the combustion gases. One or more thermoelectric generators may be thermally coupled to the exhaust system for generating electrical energy from residual heat of the combustion gases which pass in the exhaust system. This gas turbine arrangement allows waste heat from the combustion gases to be utilized and thus the overall efficiency of the gas turbine arrangement can be increased and pollutant emissions may be lowered.
Abstract:
A method reprocesses waste water containing an organic acid from an industrial process. A base is added to the acid-containing waste water. A salt dissolving in the waste water is produced due to a neutralization reaction. The waste water is subsequently guided in a heat exchanger process, a heat exchange medium being used such that the waste water which is to be treated is partially evaporated and is condensed into purified water on a condensation device. A concentrate enriched with the salt forms a residue and the purified water is guided back into the industrial process.

Abstract:
Systems, methods, computer program products, and the like for performing business object service simulation are disclosed. A runtime model of a business object can be generated. The runtime model can include a plurality of structural and functional entities. A simulation runtime model of the business object can be instantiated. The simulation runtime model can include a plurality of pseudo-structural and pseudo-functional entities. During the simulation runtime model, a predetermined business object service of the business object can be selected and at least one parameter of the predetermined business object service can be determined. Functional entities of the runtime model can be replaced with pseudo-functional entities of the simulation runtime model. The simulation runtime model can be executed using pseudo-functional entities.
