Abstract: The present technique provides a first terminal device for exchanging signals with a wireless telecommunications network and a plurality of second terminal devices, the first terminal device configured to exchange signals with each of the plurality of second terminal devices, when the first terminal device provides a local cell for providing wireless connectivity for the plurality of second terminal devices, and to exchange signals with one or more infrastructure equipment of the wireless telecommunications network, and receive, from each of the plurality of second terminal devices served by the first terminal device when providing the local cell, suitability information indicative of the suitability of each of one or more other terminal devices or infrastructure equipment of the wireless telecommunications network to exchange signals with that second terminal device to provide for that second terminal devices another local cell.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a new radio base station for a mobile telecommunications system. The circuitry is further configured to transmit a time division duplexing configuration of the new radio cell to the LTE base station for identifying, based on the received time division duplexing configuration, a coexistence and intermodulation influence on an LTE receiver of the at least one user equipment.

Abstract: A wireless telecommunication system includes base stations for communicating with terminal devices. One or more base stations support a power boost operating mode in which a base station's available transmission power is concentrated in a subset of its available transmission resources to provide enhanced transmission powers as compared to transmission powers on these transmission resources when the base station is not operating in the power boost mode. A base station establishes an extent to which one or more base stations in the wireless telecommunications system supporting the power boost operating mode conveys an indication of this to a terminal device. The terminal device receives the indication and uses the corresponding information to control its acquisition of a base station of the wireless telecommunication system, for example by taking account of which base stations support power boosting and/or when power boosting is supported during a cell attach procedure.

Abstract: A method of operating a base station in a wireless telecommunications system. Downlink communications from the base station to terminal devices are made using a plurality of OFDM sub-carriers spanning a system frequency bandwidth. The base station supports communications with a first type of terminal device on a host carrier using OFDM sub-carriers distributed across the system frequency bandwidth and supports communications with a second type of terminal device on a restricted bandwidth carrier using OFDM subcarriers distributed across a restricted frequency bandwidth which is smaller than and within the system frequency bandwidth. Respective base stations can exchange information regarding their restricted bandwidth carrier transmissions to help them coordinate their respective transmissions with a view to reducing intercell interference.

Abstract: A method of operating first and second terminal devices for transmitting data in a device-to-device communication mode in a wireless telecommunications system supporting communications on a first carrier operating over a first frequency band and a second carrier operating over a second frequency band. The first terminal device transmits control signalling on the first carrier and this is received by the second terminal device. The control signalling comprises an indication of an allocation of radio resource blocks on the second carrier to be used for transmitting user-plane data from the first terminal device to the second terminal device. The first terminal device then proceeds to transmit the user-plane data to the second terminal device on the second carrier using the radio resource blocks on the second carrier identified by the control signalling. The control signalling may also provide an indication of an allocation of radio resource blocks on the first carrier to be used for transmitting user-plane data to the second terminal device.

Abstract: Methods of communicating in a wireless telecommunications system comprising a communications device, a master cell group comprising one or more infrastructure equipment of a first type and a secondary cell group comprising one or more infrastructure equipment of a second type, the communications device being in a coverage area of one of the infrastructure equipment of the first type and a coverage area of at least one of the infrastructure equipment of the second type, wherein the communications device is configured to transmit signals to and receive signals from the infrastructure equipment of the first type in accordance with a first communications protocol and to transmit signals to and receive signals from the at least one infrastructure equipment of the second type in accordance with a second communications protocol, the second communications protocol being different to the first communications protocol. A method according to a first example embodiment of the present disclosure comprises establishing a measurement of radio conditions associated with a first communications path between the communications device and the infrastructure equipment of the first type, determining that the first communications path is not appropriate for use by the communications device, transmitting a failure message from the communications device to one of the infrastructure equipment of the second type via a second communications path, the failure message providing information regarding the determination that the first communications path is not appropriate for use by the communications device, receiving at the communications device a signal comprising a reconfiguration message from the one of the infrastructure equipment of the second type via the second communications path, and establishing, using the reconfiguration message, signals to be transmitted by the communications device and signals to be received by the communications device.
