    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a communication system and technique that may be applied to intelligent services based on a 5G communication technology and an IoT-related technology. The present disclosure provides a method for data transmission of a terminal in a wireless communication system that includes inputting a packet data convergence protocol packet data unit (PDCP PDU) output from a PDCP entity to a first radio link control (RLC) entity and a second RLC entity. The method also includes inputting a first radio link control packet data unit (RLC PDU) output from the first RLC entity and a second RLC PDU output from the second RLC entity to a medium access control (MAC) entity and transmitting a medium access control packet data unit (MAC PDU) output from the MAC entity through a first physical layer (PHY) entity and a second physical layer entity.

The disclosure relates to the collection and reporting of measurement information in a wireless communication system, in which an operation method of a terminal may include receiving configuration information for a logged minimization drive test (MDT) disclosed by a secondary node (SN), storing a measurement result by performing the logged MDT in one of a radio resource control (RRC) idle mode or an RRC inactive mode, based on the received configuration information, transmitting a message including an indicator for indicating that the stored measurement result exists after the terminal is switched to the RRC connected mode, receiving a request message for requesting the logged MDT measurement result, and transmitting a message for reporting the logged MDT measurement result.

    Abstract: A communication method and system for converging a 5th generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of things (IoT) are provided. The communication method and system include intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. A method, a terminal, and a base station for paging and SI update transmission and reception in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes receiving, from a base station, information on a default discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle, identifying a UE specific DRX cycle, identifying whether an indicator indicating that the UE monitors a paging occasion (PO) based on the UE specific DRX cycle is configured, identifying whether the UE specific DRX cycle is greater than the default DRX cycle, identifying a first paging frame (PF) for monitoring a paging message and a second PF for monitoring a short message in case that the indicator is configured and the UE specific DRX cycle is greater than the default DRX cycle, identifying a first PO corresponding to the first PF and a second PO corresponding to the second PF, and monitoring a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) addressed to a paging-radio network temporary identity (P-RNTI) in the identified first and second POs.
