    Abstract: A system and a method for a transaction based on a license plate number. A method of providing data for paying for an item, performed by a mobile device, includes receiving a license plate number from a vehicle terminal through short-range wireless communication, selecting a credit card to be used to pay for an item provided in an offline store, and transmitting the received license plate number and information regarding the selected credit card to a payment server. The license plate number and the information regarding the selected credit card transmitted to the payment server are used for the payment server to authenticate the payment of the item, together with information regarding a license plate number provided from a store terminal of the offline store to the payment server.

    Abstract: A method of inputting a character is provided. The method includes receiving a user input for inputting a character, obtaining a plurality of candidate characters corresponding to the user input, sequentially converting the plurality of candidate characters into a selectable character state whenever a predetermined character conversion cycle ends, updating a character conversion cycle based on an amount of time it takes to sequentially convert the plurality of candidate characters into the selectable character state, before a user input for selecting a selectable character is received, and sequentially converting the plurality of candidate characters into the selectable character state whenever the updated character conversion cycle ends.

    Abstract: A robot and a controlling method thereof are provided. The robot includes a driver unit configured to move a location of the robot, a sensor unit configured to sense an environment around the robot, and a controller configured to, in response to the location of the robot being changed by a user, check a current location of the robot by using the environment of the changed location sensed by the sensor unit and pre-stored map information, determine a task to be performed, based on the checked location and the environment of the changed location, and control the driver unit according to the determined task.
