Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes pixels, each including a pixel electrode including first and second stem electrodes, which extend in a first direction and are spaced apart from each other, a third stem electrode, which extends in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction and intersects the first and second stem electrodes, a first edge electrode, which extends in the second direction and intersects first ends of the first and second stem electrodes, a second edge electrode, which extends in the second direction and intersects second ends of the first and second stem electrodes, and branch electrodes, which extend from the first, second, and third stem electrodes in a direction which is different from the first and second directions where a boundary line is defined between the first and second stem electrode.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display includes a display panel, an opposite display panel, a liquid crystal layer between the display panel and the opposite display panel. The display panel includes a first base substrate, a pretilt alignment stabilization layer including a polymer of a reactive mesogen, a first vertical alignment layer including a decomposition product of a polymerization initiator between the first base substrate and the pretilt alignment stabilization layer, and a pattern electrode between the first base substrate and the first vertical alignment layer. The opposite display panel includes a second base substrate, a patternless electrode on the second base substrate, and a second vertical alignment layer on the patternless electrode, which includes the decomposition product of the polymerization initiator. The liquid crystal layer includes a liquid crystal composition having negative dielectric anisotropy. A surface of the LCD that faces a viewer has a concave shaped curve.

Abstract: A liquid-crystal display device includes a display panel connected to first to nth gate lines and first to nth control lines, where n is a natural number greater than one, and a gate driving unit which sequentially applies first to nth gate signals having a first pulse width to the first to nth gate lines, respectively, for a unit frame, where the first to nth control lines are sorted into first to kth control line groups, where k is a natural number greater than one and less than n, the gate driving unit sequentially applies first to kth control signals having a second pulse width to the first to kth control line group, respectively, for the unit frame, and the first pulse width is smaller than the second pulse width.
