Abstract: There is provided an information processing apparatus, an information processing method, and a program that can efficiently transmit a tactile signal for a plurality of tactile presentation units. A transmission apparatus breaks up a tactile signal included in content into a base tactile signal group, converts the base tactile signal group into encoded data including parameters defined for each of the broken up base tactile signals, and transmits the encoded data. A reception apparatus restores and combines the base tactile signals based on the parameters included in the encoded data to restore the tactile signal and makes a tactile presentation. The present disclosure can be applied to a content reproduction system including a tactile presentation apparatus.

The information processing apparatus includes a signal processing section configured such that in a case where the presentation timing of a first presentation with haptic sensation based on first data overlaps with the presentation timing of a second presentation with either haptic sensation or a sound based on second data, the signal processing section generates a haptic signal for controlling a haptic presentation device performing at least the first presentation based on sensory characteristic data regarding the haptic sensation and on the first data in such a manner that a combined sensory effect on a user receiving both the first presentation and the second presentation becomes an effect merging a first sensory effect of the first presentation with a second sensory effect of the second presentation.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a receiving apparatus and method, a transmitting apparatus and method, and a program, which can vibrate a device in a specific area of a receiving area. An example, in which users wearing respective wearable receiving apparatuses are freely moving in the receiving area, is shown. A directional transmitting device unit transmits an area designation signal, and the reachable range of the signal is shown as a beam irradiation area. Only the user in the beam irradiation area receives the area designation signal transmitted by the directional transmitting device unit. The present disclosure can be applied to, for example, a video projection system that vibrates a receiving apparatus by transmission and reception of a directional wireless signal in the specific area where the video is projected.
