Modes on power consumption are suitably set. There is provided an information processing device including a control section. When the information processing device in a first mode transitions to a second mode in which the information processing device consumes power differently than in the first mode, the control section performs control to transmit at least one frame. Upon transmitting the frame, the control section inserts into the frame information for notifying a first device compatible with the second mode that the information processing device will transition to the second mode, and information for causing a second device incompatible with the second mode to suppress transmission.

It is possible to rapidly discover a wireless terminal as a connection partner without preliminarily sharing information related to a scan.A search parameter for searching for a search target wireless terminal is determined depending on preliminarily set correspondence relation from given information. The search processing is performed based on the search parameter to discover the search target wireless terminal. For example, the given information is position information of the wireless terminal, information unique to the search target wireless terminal, and the like. Moreover, the search parameter is a wireless system, a wireless channel, a network identifier, search execution timing, and the like.

The efficiency of wireless communication is improved. A communication system includes a first information processing apparatus and a second information processing apparatus. The first information processing apparatus controls to determine an information amount to be used for a receipt acknowledgment response to packets to be transmitted to a second information processing apparatus on the basis of information relating to the packets and notifies the second information processing apparatus of that determined information amount. The second information processing apparatus controls to return the receipt acknowledgment response to the packets transmitted from the first information processing apparatus to the first information processing apparatus on the basis of the information amount notified from the first information processing apparatus.
