Abstract: A catalyst composition, suitable for producing ethylene and other C2+ hydrocarbons, from methane. The composition comprises a blended product of two distinct catalyst components, blended at such synergistic proportions that results in a catalyst having high ethylene selectivity while maintaining low ethyne selectivity and sufficient catalytic activity rate. The invention further provides a method for preparing such a catalyst composition and a process for producing ethylene and other C2+ hydrocarbons, using such a catalyst composition.

Abstract: A method of autothermal oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) utilizes introducing a methane-containing feedstock and an oxygen-gas-containing feedstock into a reactor (10) as a flowing mixture (18) with a space time of 500 ms or less. The reactor (10) contains a catalyst bed (20) of an OCM catalyst that contacts the flowing mixture and wherein the catalyst bed (20) has a heat Peclet number (Peh) of from 5 or less, a mass Peclet number (Pem) of from 5 or more, and a transverse Peclet number (P) of from 1 or less while contacting the flowing mixture. The methane and oxygen of the feedstocks are allowed to react within the reactor (10) to form methane oxidative coupling reaction products. A reactor (10) for carrying out the OCM reaction is also disclosed.

Abstract: A metal oxide catalyst capable of catalyzing an oxidative coupling of methane reaction is described. The metal oxide catalyst includes a lanthanum (La) cerium (Ce) metal oxide and further including a lanthanum hydroxide (La(OH)3) crystalline phase. The catalyst is capable of catalyzing the production of C2+ hydrocarbons from methane and oxygen. Methods and systems of using the metal oxide catalyst to produce C2+ hydrocarbons from a reactant gas are also described.
