Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may establish a non-proprietary short-range link layer connection with a second device. The apparatus may establish a proprietary link layer connection with the second device. The apparatus may determine a duration of a previous non-proprietary link layer connection event. The apparatus may determine a number of proprietary link layer control PDUs to be exchanged during a proprietary connection event based at least in part on the duration of the previous non-proprietary link layer connection event and a start time of a subsequent non-proprietary link layer connection event. The apparatus may perform a proprietary control procedure by exchanging the number of proprietary link layer PDUs with the second device during the proprietary connection event.

Abstract: Using the modulation scheme and/or coding techniques of traditional BLE may limit not only the data rate, but also limit the amount that the transmit power of a BLE air interface packet can be reduced due to receiver sensitivity. Namely, the lowest signal power level from which a receiving device may obtain information without meeting a BER threshold may limit the amount that the transmit power at the transmitter side can be reduced. There exists a need to transmit a BLE air interface packet using a modulation rate that is greater than 1 Mbps or 2 Mbps, enables a further reduction in transmit power, and/or enables an increase in receiver sensitivity. The present disclosure provides a solution by applying a coding technique and a PSK modulation scheme to a BLE air interface packet that increases data rate and reduces the sensitivity of the receiving device as compared to traditional BLE.

Abstract: The apparatus may establish a non-proprietary link layer connection with a second device. The apparatus may determine if a first set of empty non-proprietary link layer PDUs are exchanged with the second device via one or more channels during a non-proprietary link layer connection event. The apparatus may exchange proprietary establishment PDUs with the second device during at least one proprietary link establishment event via the one or more channels when it is determined that the first set of empty non-proprietary link layer PDUs are exchanged with the second device via the one or more channels. The apparatus may establish a proprietary link layer connection with the second device when it is determined that a sequence of the proprietary establishment PDUs have been exchanged with the second device. The apparatus may communicate with the second device via the proprietary link layer connection.

Abstract: As many applications, such as wireless headsets used with cellular phones, require mostly error free data to accurately reproduce a telephone conversation, uncorrected erroneous data packets may impact a perceived quality of a given application. The error correction techniques of the present disclosure promote error-correction in communication systems that lack FEC with respect to one or more portions of a data packet. The techniques therefore provide error correction for the entire packet, including those portions not protected by any imbedded error correction mechanism. As a result, data communications over noisy communication mediums may be improved as the techniques may reduce bit error rates, and increase the sensitivity of the receiving device such that the transmission power of a data packet may be reduced. For voice packets or other streaming data packets, the techniques promote improved audio quality over systems that do not employ the techniques described in the present disclosure.

Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided for using reliable write command protocol. The apparatus may be configured to receive a predetermined number of segments from a first wireless device during a first connection interval. The apparatus may be configured to transmit one or more notifications to the first wireless device during the first connection interval based on an order that that the segments were received. The apparatus may be configured to receive a subsequent segment(s) from the first wireless device during a second connection interval.

Abstract: Systems and methods related to a wireless communication system include detection of and protection from relay-in-the-middle attacks. A first wireless device receives a data packet transmitted by a second wireless device and determines whether the data packet includes a jitter introduced by the second wireless device based on a function of a shared key between the first wireless device and the second wireless device. The first wireless device determines whether a relay-in-the-middle attack is present between the first wireless device and the second wireless device based on whether the data packet includes the jitter. The first wireless device may withhold transmission of sensitive messages based on a determination that the relay-in-the-middle attack is present.
